Mycelium or something sinister??
    #26079087 -

Greetings! I inoculated 7 jars on Sunday 6/23 and am suspicious about the growth that I am witnessing. It is cottonbally, and not a strand-like growth commonly seen in mycelium. Please take a look!

looks good to me, if your pictures could be a little more zoomed in, it would help us

Very often the rhizomorphic growth (what you were expecting) shows up later in colonization.  These look fine to me.

Here are some close ups. I'm mainly worried about the jar that has exceptional growth for day 5, as it is also the same jar with what seems like some black metabolite on it.

That's very relieving to hear. It's just that most of the pictures I've seen circulating on here have consisted of pristine grain/pf cakes and then a perfect rhizomorphic circle of mycelium. This cottonball growth causes doubt in my mind but if you guys say it's clean, then I believe ya.

Yeah, mine have never looked like those perfect circular rings of webby fingers.  They DO appear, but it seems like it takes weeks for them to show.

And, I have never personally seen every single inoculation point in every single jar showing the exact same signs of contamination.  I'm sure it happens.. but it would be such a colossal fuckup that I'm just not sure how it would happen to someone even being moderately careful.

Check on em in a week.  I bet it looks more familiar.

Yes sir it does! When I saw that I flipped. Though it hasn't expanded since I spotted it. I'm wondering if it's just vermiculite pressed up against the glass due to the colonization pressure? I'm not sure but I'm definitely keeping an eye on that one.

Looks like bacteria. Could still fruit though.

Well I guess I'm relieved that only one jar has bacteria. Maybe the mycelium won against it as I don't see any spreading.

Much better result than my previous assumptions of the cotton balls.
