While hunting morels, I found this mushroom.

I found a strange group of mushrooms growing on the side of a dead tree. Could be oak or elm, no way to tell. Each is 6" by 8" and look something like califlower. But the area between creases are thick, maybe 1/2" and the creases are not deep. The center is solid and tender except near the root. The strange thing is that the entire mushroom is yellow all the way through. I cut some pieces and put them in a plastic bag, put in the fridge and yellow juice is collecting in the bag. I dropped one and bruised it and the area just got soft, no color change.
I found these near Harpers Ferry WV. Bakerton to be exact. Sorry but I do not have a camera as mine broke. Has anyone ever seen any like these? I can find nothing in any book.

Your description sounds to me most like one of the species of Coral Mushrooms. A couple examples are here and here.

As a group they are very difficult to identify accurately, requiring a microscope and chemical reagents for most species. There are a few species that are distinctive enough to identify without all that.

Many are edible, some are mildly poisonous (mostly causing stomach upsets and diarrhea).

Happy mushrooming!

It is definitely not a coral mushroom. It is some type of cauliflower, but all my books say they are white in the center and the edges of this one do not match any pictures I have. This one is yellow all the way through. I left one on the tree and if I can borrow a camera, I will get a picture.
