A question; How late into the season can one expect to reasonably find subs? Also correct me if not allowed on here, but is Kuitpo known for yields? Been once a bit earlier and although packed with Gallerinas and Mycena, not a sub in sight.

Subs in spring. Can be a thing. Kuitpo will show. Too those who go.

I doubt they'd occur in SA. They fruit in tropical conditions and it's much too dry in SA during the warm months.

Thought I'd contribute some of my finds today. Some half dried P. Subs found in a wood chipped/bark garden bed. About 4-5 days after a week of rainfall and 3 weeks of unsuccessful hunts in the pine and gum forests, I found this on a detour back to camp 😂. Mushroom god's had spoken I guess haha Found in the Meadows/Kuitpo region SA.

I honestly wouldn't be worried unless you're dressed as a furry, and too busy furiously fucking a stranger to notice the bat signal coming your way
dressed as a furry maybe, fucking a stranger... would i do that hahaha had a good laugh over this thanks dude.
i have found seriously good flushes of subs as late as mid September in the northern hills provided we get a bit of rain in august and it stays cool. The latest subs over the years i have ever come across were the first week of October.
Cyans would only happen if inoculated spores were spread at just the right time of year, temp, humidity, moisture and location in sa but very unlikely imo our sa climate is far too erratic , cubes would be more likely under the same condition stated above with that being said if one had good spores they would not likely waste them on a chance..
perfect conditions this week for a mid season flush i reckon i will be putting my hiking boots on around Wednesday/Thursday for a hunt in some local spots.

Saturdays rain drenched my spot, with not even a pin in sight. Hopefully that down pour did more good than bad.

@Bunny: Gorgeous patch @Seekeroftruths, Nice habitat shots and looking very gloomy and humid. I must say it hasn't been a good one for fungi in my neck of the woods so far. A couple patches started well a month back with dismal follow ups, some one hit wonders yet to see a second flush and many patches which so far are no shows this season. That goes for the inactives too. It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks. Hopefully a late peak is yet to come.

Yeah I was going to say bob, not many posts happening for what is usually the peak, or near peak of the season.
I have been flat out busy for weeks now so haven't had a chance to have another look, sounds like I'm not missing out on much. I know from hearsay my northern patch is still producing flushes but unsure what it has been like in the last week or so. Still have a few new areas I would like to get to at some point this season, sounds like being busy may have been a blessing in disguise.
It was unusual that a couple of weeks ago Gyms were still plentiful in my northern pine spots but subs were the most plentiful mushroom of all, usually the gyms are nearly done before the subs really get going. What a weird ol' year it has been.

That rain would've booted em.
I saw a lot of pins that didnt make it through the spell but there is bound to be a flush in the makings.
It has been an odd year though...early clover and bugger all inactives.
