There was a dude in Canada a few years ago who cut off some guy's head on a Greyhound bus and was found to be not criminally responsible.


I remember that story! That was one sick grisly murder. I don't recommend looking for images, I almost lost my lunch over that. What a nightmare that was. And now the guy is out enjoying his freedom again! Crazy.

So uh, whether “criminal” or not aren’t they worried he might do that again?

By ‘enjoying his freedom’ you mean locked up in a psych ward right?  No way he got real freedom..right?

Everybody stood outside the bus while he just filleted that poor lad. Crazier than that one of the passengers was telling the police that before that fateful incident occurred they made a stop and the killer had a smoke with him and they had just a normal chat. No sign of aggression, everything was just peachy. Until it wasn't.:cookiemonster:

No, from what I remember he did like 11 years or something that absolutely did not fit the crime, and was let FREE. I'm sure though they are keeping an eye on him...maybe. It's worth a search for the article. It's very graphic and very disturbing though so be warned.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — A Canadian man who was found not criminally responsible for beheading and cannibalizing a fellow passenger on a Greyhound bus has been granted his freedom.

Manitoba’s Criminal Code Review Board announced Friday it has given Will Baker, formerly known as Vince Li, an absolute discharge, meaning he is longer subject to monitoring.

Baker, a diagnosed schizophrenic, killed Tim McLean, a young carnival worker who was a complete stranger to Baker, in 2008. A year later he was found not criminally responsible due to mental illness.


Baker said he heard the voice of God telling him to kill the man or “die immediately.”

He repeatedly stabbed McLean while he fought for his life. As passengers fled the bus, Baker continued stabbing and mutilating the body before he was arrested. He severed McLean’s head, displaying it to some of the passengers outside the bus, witnesses said.

I dont know what the law is in Canada (I dont even know what it is here tbh) but if you're a diagnosed schizophrenic, who kills. Would you not get sanctioned or something :shrug:

It just depends on if you're found to be mentally competent to stand trial (in us anyways).

My lawyer had me tested to see if I was mentally competent. I was, and most people would be. They asked me a lot of shit like what day is it, who is the president, blah blah. They're were a couple questions like do I see things or hear things that aren't there but he pretty much told me a yes doesn't mean you're incompetent.

Basically you have to be completely retarded or so batshit insane you're oblivious to the world around you.

I was just reading this from the telegraph about Peter sutcliffe (the Yorkshire ripper). Apparently he never was schizophrenic but just said he heard "voices from god" so he could be sent to broadmoor instead of regular prison and everyone believed him:shrug:
