Do shrooms make you smarter?

Notice any effects on your ability to connect the dots or to increase your output in creative endeavours?

Or do shrooms have the opposite effect and make you feel dumber?

Depends on the dose.

On the right microdose I feel smarter/more capable. Even if that's placebo it's still awesome.

Dose too high? Woah man put the controller down no more assassins creed for me lol

I say shrooms make you smarter because they often times force you to confront issues in your life that you probably don't want to confront, which in my experience makes me feel better than normal afterwards since it's akin to cleaning out your dirty garage or something.

I think cleaning is smart because it makes it easier to find things, AKA makes it easier to use your brain better, it's safer because clean things don't have bad bacteria/viruses.

And they make you realize that we aren't alone in this universe.

I was under the impression from things I've read that shrooms, LSD and DMT increase neuroplasticity and therefore can make you smarter. Not in the way that will see a ditch digger become an engineer, but measurably with emotionally intelligent responses.

It's really all perception to be honest.

I feel more enlightened during and after trips; but does enlightened mean i am more intelligent? Maybe..

For sure, let me give you an example, in a day X happened something with me, 10 days later i had a trip on shroom and remembered this event on day X and connecting chain of events that happened before this day X I discovered why it happened.

It definitely makes you think outside the box and go against your intuition and common sense, by thinking outside the box you end up discovering things you would never discover otherwise.

Studies are showing that it helps the brain form new connections between neurons (re-wiring itself) hence why it helps with PTSD and depression.  The brain "knows" how it should be wired and given the right conditions (on shrooms) it will take care of itself.  Sounds like that could be called making us smarter to me

Smarter is an ambiguous term. That said...

There have been several studies that show that people perform better solving divergent problems while on shrooms. Problems that require mental flexibility that pull from multiple ideas to find a solution. For those of us who take shrooms this probably isn't a surprise. Having a "big Picture" view can certainly help in figuring out certain kinds of issue or problems :smile:

I think they do because they allow your mind to experience something novel, something profound, something the brain has never experienced. And with new experiences, comes new insight into life itself, therefore making someone smarter.

Also, microdosing works a lot like a nootropic drug, enhancing the mind subtly.
