Pretty far fetched.

However, Bitcoin is making an upswing and may do so into the future. Im going to reinvest into Bitcoin again soon, it seems to be getting its relevance back.

I kinda like platinum as well. More scarce as it requires a special type of supernova event to form. I heard recently that all of the platinum ever mined could fit into a standard sized living room.

Good to diversify. I only have a ton of shitcoins though, no BTC

Ripple is a trade currency more than a long term asset. It's value will fluctuate a bit with the crypto market, but it's not a long term hold, because it's prone to centralized manipulation. Ripple doesn't get mined, it was all created at once, and it's distribution is controlled by the company which owns it. Which is fine if the company manages it well.

But it's real purpose is to speed up monetary transactions, because you can buy and sell ripple for fiat currency quickly, and you can send ripple across international borders in a microsecond, it turns a 3-5 day process of sending money to someone a 1 minute process. It's widely adopted as a holding, and has pump and dumps here and there, but I don't think it's too great to put a lot into.

If you got on ripple early when it went from micro cents to dollars in the span of 8 or 9 months, you'd be rich right now though for sure (+40,000% growth), but it's a bit late to see those gains. Decentralized, widely adopted crypto is better overall.

The new facebook backed currency libra will potentially take a huge chunk of ripple's market, and it too is nothing to invest into itself, because it will be backed by multiple fiat currencies and it's value will be directly tied to hard currencies and the Western International economy. It's doing what ripple really should have been for the same purpose.

That's not to say that ripple won't grow though, but the what ifs are too big for me and holding it is antithetical to it's intended purpose from the outset.

Cause that's 10x as big.
