I've heard others talk about it being like getting offered a huge feast as dessert for having eaten a huge feast. The myc already "feasted" on the highly nutritious grain and can do so for a long time, it doesn't much care about the coir.
But yeah, the brf is the battery that powers the myc to fill up it's new home (see below).
