What's your daily drug of choice? I'm sober and enjoying it * 2
    #26063845 -

Is anyone here sober?

Genuinely curious as to whether anyone else here is sober or not?

I stopped smoking weed near 3 years ago (this August will be three years)
for anxiety reasons-(I had such bad anxiety attacks, that I started hyperventilating and would pass out)
I was at one point an Oz. a week chronic smoker, for 6 years.

I stopped drinking ten months ago after going on a week long alcoholic rage fueled rampage, ruining damn near every single healthy relationship I had at the time.

I'm inquiring because I sort of want some reassurance that I am not the only person out there sober. I know realistically- I am far from the only one; however, it's more of a physically NOT knowing anyone who is sober.

If you are on something, what is it, and why is that your drug of choice?

I'm sober most of the time. Rarely get drunk. But I like weed and have some, but am not smoking that often atm.

I'm smoking a lot of cigarettes though.

I'm sober. Haven't used anything including alcohol since Jan. 2018.

I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today.
Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear.
I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear.

Same man, I have kicked all addictions, minus my smoking habit. I smoke a little over a 20 pack a day. I buy from the natives, so its cheap, though. So that is a positive.

Alcohol moderately, boomers on weekends, dmt when I feel like it, salvia on occasion but not really, lsd and mdma when I find it, coke also when I find it, weed when I play poker about once a month.. was sober for awhile and maybe will be again at some point but definitely nothing wrong with that lifestyle

I don’t consider myself dependent on any one thing and everything I do is in moderation so it’s not too bad in my opinion.  If I were dependent and couldn’t stop or couldn’t handle myself responsibly  then I would probably have a different opinion on it all.

That is a massive reason as to why I am sober. I am useless at the self control thing. I do my best, but boy oh boy is my willpower level lowwww.

Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion.

I haven't been sober for over a decade. Maybe like 5 or 6 days out of that time. I'm mostly just on the weed and kratom daily. LSD and similar stuff every now and again.

Weed is by far my favorite drug and ive done a fucking lot of them.

Even if i could do oxy or heroin daily without risking death or addiction, it would only be in combination with weed. I cant do without smoking ateast once a day

Good for you man. It seems boring at first, but that changes fast. I have found some good reading material that has really kept me interested in life.

I was the same way, I lived for weed man. I miss it at times, but i realize all of the positives of being sober, there are so many. Also the anxiety thing is huge for me.

Its always a good idea to quit all drugs when you find your self-control slipping completely.

I don't live a sober life but I know how to throttle my usage so I don't abuse drugs day-to-day. Drug use and self-control is critical to not going overboard and fuckin up your life.

Once you lose your self-control, it becomes dangerous territory. Its almost like something has put you on auto-pilot.

so I had multiple times in my past were self control was non-existent and it took me to bad places, I was mixing lots of drugs thinking I would be all good but then came sometimes when I went too far to the point of unresponsive out of this world which lead to me changing my life before I was going to die. I quite that life style and got my shit together, went to school, got a good job, living a life of content now. I choose to still use but now with knowledge of how bad it can get if I choose to be stupid and not manage myself properly.

I got sober man.  Like I stopped drinking last November.  At first I would just makes these kinds of contracts between myself and what I view as God.  Like in the beginning they would only be for a month.  Once the contract ran out I would try drinking again but it always seemed to be a bad time.  Like that same anxiety regret and depression would return almost immediately.  After November though I just kept deciding to extend those "contracts" before you know it January rolled by and I started thinking to myself why not make my new years revolution to not drink.  I waited until May to actually tell people that was my goal to not drink for a year.  It's almost 8 months now with no alcohol.  Like I've noticed that I feel like I've gotten way more intelligent.  Like I've tracked this with my grades in college like it's gone from Cs to A's.  Also I've skyrocketed in my ability to play guitar and make music.

I've always had problems with alcohol since I started drinking.  It's the only thing I have ever had a problem with like abuse and addiction potential besides cigs.  Like I grew up around heavy opiate abuse and watched all of my friends in highschool become addicted to them.  I even dabbled with them too and I never had a problem with them. The only thing that did get me was alcohol.

So like this year I had a realization that  the longest period I had gone with out drinking before this was around when I was 15.  I wanted to see if I could go a year and what it would be like.  It's been overwhelming positive. I've noticed that the world have taken on a more magical undertone now.  Kind of like how the world looked and felt before I started drinking.  Their are draw backs though like the old weird insecurities that I used alcohol to cover up came back but I have a maturity to deal with them now and honestly view them as something to face and experience a d not something to run away from anymore.

It's weird to how like during the past 2 years or so the effects of the alcohol changed.  Like it didn't give me the euphoria and feel good nature it used to in my teens and early 20's. Like the effects morphed into this shitty dizzy feeling that turned my good feelings into bad feelings.  Like in ways I am thankful for this honestly.

It seems as if you have had the same issues that i have (obviously different circumstances) .

I have found the same. An overwhelmingly positive turn in my life.

I finally feel like I have purpose.

Good for you.

gave me a serious strain in my kidney from abusing hard liqour daily in the past. a serious process from the start alongn with peer pressure, letting them down offering a drink everytime. Its gets easy now adays being straight. Experienced better clarity without the spirit of alcohol. One thing is that im still far from it & i should have given up cigar aswell together with it in the past 2yrs for it got worse and currently battling it. I admire people towards sobriety. Keep up the good work brother.

Thats so awesome man. It is far from easy, but its a road worth following if youre the way i am with self control. I always find myself in this cyclical round of bullshit where i make agreements with myself and always cave. Its rough.

Just about a year. Getting there.
