ID Request Texas
    #26063612 -

On June 8th 2019, I Was Hunting For Psilocybe Cubensis In South East Tx, When I Found What I Believed To Be A Chanterelle. I've Thrown The Mushroom Away Since Then Because I Was Not 100% Sure What It Was. Luckily I Take Pictures Of All My Finds.

Habitat- Was Growing In Woods Next To A Cow Field, Found Growing From Grass, Trees Everywhere In The Area But This Little Guy Was Not Growing On Or Around A Tree. It Was By Itself.

Description- The Cap Was Wavy Looking, Yellow But Whitish In The Middle. (Dont Know Why)

The Gills Were Yellow As Well, With Little Cross Sections Between Them. They Ran About Halfway Down The Stem.

The Stem Was Thick, Short, & Yellow With Some Whitish Looking Areas.

Did Not Make A Spore Print Because I Was Not Sure On How To Do So At The Time.

I Cut The Entire Mushroom In Half & The Meat Was White, But Started Turning Yellowish After Sitting Like That For Awhile.

No Noticeable Stain After I Picked It, Maybe Orangish, Browinsh After It Sat For Awhile.

Weather- Temps Were In The 80s-90s During The Day & Did Not Drop Below 65 At Night.
It Had Been Raining For 2 Days Straight & I Was Hunting The 3rd Day After The Rain When I Found It. Humidity Was Around 80-90% The Days It Rained & The Day After But Dropped Below 80 After That.

I Hope Im Not Leaving Out Any Vital Information, I Think I've Covered The Important Features. Even Though I Threw It Away, I'd Like To Know If It Was A Chanterelle Or Not For Future Reference In Case I Find Any More. Thank You All

Cantharellus sp. for sure. Return to the spot you found this, there should be more popping up.

Please don't delete your photos. They're not even illegal, so there's really no need to delete them, and other people would like to look at them and learn from them.
