lack of FAE or to dry or? (PICS)
    #26062021 -

Hey guys, just some info on these tubs

80L Monotub, standard hole design 2x1.5" holes each side bottom 1x1.5" holes each side top.

Strain: Cubes
Spawn: Sorghum
Sub: CVG
Sub Depth: 3.5"
Casing: None
Temps: between 75-80f

Polyfill top holes: Loose/but no gaps from poly not spanning the entire hole
polyfill bottom holes: Medium/ not densely packed, packed for better FAE

The first flush came out great, didn't have a full canopy but they came in on after another so its been continues harvesting - as you can see in the pictures where the Mycelium has re grown over the left over stumps from harvested mushrooms.

My problem is that for the last few days i've noticed a lot of small aborted mushrooms that very thin, as you can see from the pictures.

If you look through the different pictures, each tub has thin mushrooms and thin aborts in between.

Some side note info to take into consideration. The mushrooms growth has started slowing down, i'm seeing more aborts and the mushrooms that do seem to make it are thin in stature. When i am referring to the ones that seem to have made it they are the normalize sized fruits you can see in the pictures.

After the first flush, i typically have a handful of aborts before 2nd flush pins come in and grow to be full sized fruits. Typically speaking, just make sure you rehydrate your substrate after you pull the first flush.

I think it is just the mycelium giving up on old fruits and sending all of its energy towards the new flush.

good to know, i don't think the first flush is done yet, i have not dunked or given a heavy mist just yet, the tubs are still pushing out fruits but at a slower rate now which leads me to believe the tubs are getting to the end of their first flush.

got no pics of before harvesting but these are some pics after a few where taken out of each tub, the dryers were full - absolutely no signs of any contams, the fluffy areas that are spread out is mycelium that has regrown over the stumps left over from removing the fruits with a scalpel - i can see how the fluffy area's could look like trich that is not mature yet

Substrates just getting tired imo, try dunking or at least a heavy misting, seems like the subs just used all it's moisture.

Did you happen to mist not long before taking this picture?

yeah i think a dunk is in order, the substrate is starting to shrink on its first flush.. do you guys  think the substrate was probably not at its optimal field capacity for it to already be shrinking after 20 days into fruiting?

It's not uncommon for me.

I typically wipe the first flush, then rehydrate. I personally just like to give a heavy misting- then i monitor how the surface conditions look within the following week to decide whether more water is due, or not.

To answer your questions, after 16-20 days, i typically see a significant amount of shrinking.

You are all good, so long as you tested whether your sub was at field capacity, I see no reason to think that it is under hydrated!

Hope this helps, good luck my man!

man, thank you so much! i really appreciate you sharing your experiences with me. i gave them a really good misting, i checked my RH and it seem to be just over 80%, which makes me think FAE is good, just need to increase the frequency i mist the tubs, maybe 2-3 times a day if required.

After first flush, I give one extremely generous misting instead of soaking.

After that, I do not mist or fan ever.
