I left it alone to live its life. It was really calm and relaxed for a few minutes. Then it decided to hop away like a madman.

Just read back a bit, very sad with pinedownpioneer. He will be missed, very unfortunate.
That made me think about friends here that i don´t see around anymore. I haven´t seen Ferrel_human posting anything lately. I hope he OK, anyone seen him around? I miss his posts.

Aha, hmm... that´s a bummer, i miss Ferrels posts Very sad many old members aren´t here anymore. I certainly notice there seem to be a different feeling to the EG forum, i hope all is going to be good in the future.
Has there been a tightening of the rules here or is it just unfortunate circumstances that made many long time members disappear now?

I have seen Valeriana officinalis pills/capsules at the pharmacy. It´s like a herbal alternative to sleeping pills they said. Anyone have tried Valeriana for sleep problems?
I have huge sleep problems and get some pills to keep me sleeping. I have no problems falling asleep but if i dont take the pills i wake up like 10 times during the night. A plant alternative would be great if it works.

Yes valerian is amazing for sleep. If you get it powder or root form, definitely encapsulate it for it is among the most wretched substances you will ever smell and taste

Valerian seed is cheap and easy to grow in a cool environment. Usually planted in fall/winter as it germinates in lower temps. Plants are readily available online and can be divided without issue. Some people equate the smell of the fresh root to stinky cheese or moldy socks, but I disagree. It has a funky smell not unlike an aged hard cheese, but not particularly bad smelling in my opinion. On the other hand, the flowers smell good enough to fill the whole garden with their scent!

WTF I haven't been in here much over the last year or so. Losing Ferrel is downright depressing. Not EBG without the man himself. Think life has been pretty stressful for him in general hopefully he will dip back in now and then. Priorities change and sometimes you gotta take a step back and chill.

Water less often, let the top inch dry out inbtween watering, add a top layer of gravel or something. Use a fan to blow them away. I hear h2o2 kills the larve.

Diatomaceous earth is said to be good at this too.

LifeUnderAwno said: Very useful. Binds to benzodiazepine site on GABA receptor. Mostly apigenin but also various sedatives; valerianic acids, isovaleramide, etc.
Some people say it stinks but the taste of the tea is quite nice. A particular brand sells "extract standardized valerian" in a purple white bottle with "0.8% valerenic acid." Supplement facts list 400mg valerian root and 110mg extract, containing 0.8% valerenic acids (0.89mg) It is about 8-15$ for 90 capsules. An average dose is 2-4 capsules. Sometimes more, sometimes just one is fine. The duration seems to be nearly 24 hours, more at higher doses. Similar to benzos with long half life, not nearly as intense or potent. Coffee, tea, caffeine seemed to have reduced potency and duration within 12-24 hours after dosing.
Reportedly a potent CYP2D6 inhibitor. The mu opioid antagonist activity is enough to mess with an opioid dose or get your nose running...
I wanted to start growing it because I'm fond of the effects for sleep and anxiolysis, but the root and extract capsules (even from the same brand) are inconsistent in ingredient content and quality across batches. Fresh root is more potent anyways. I've bought more fresh dried root in international food stores.
That´s a bummer. I´m on methadone and if it messes with my opioid tolerance it´s a 100% no no for me. Very sad, good and natural sleeping helpers are few and far apart. I was looking forward to try Valerian

You tapering yet mateo? Someday once your doses are minimal you could try in limited amounts as its potent in effect. Methadone's a nasty curb to kick if you struggle with the self discipline. Might be beneficial to try chamomile and 20mg melatonin in tandem or a hefty red vein kratom dose in the meantime if you aren't sleeping well. 432hz tones play a huge subconscious impact in falling and staying asleep as well! I got the links plug brotato chip

Oh yes, i constantly try lowering my methadone dose because i want to get rid of that shit. So far i have gone from 150mg daily to about 50mg now. But beeing on 150mg daily for 20 years make it a hard habit to get rid of. I actually going to try a kratom tea right now. I loaded up 10grams leafpowder thinking i might need a hefty dose, I will se how that works out. When i had a high methadone dose no kratom dose whatever strength would make a difference. I hope i can use kratom as an aid to kick methadone for good. It´s just so hard beeing dependent on getting the doses and all hassle with papers and doses when im going to other countries. I really want to get rid of it. But of cause, i dont want to be sick as a dog doing it.

Congratulations my friend, you're more than half way there. In my clerical and medical experience, kratom will definitely help you. I wouldn't be able to help recommend dosing as that is something you entirely figure out for yourself. I will tell you though that alkaloid content varies drastically as all aspects of the plants' cultivation has an affect. All the way down to method of drying and time of day harvested. I can vouch for red maeng da blends as well as borneo blends feeling the most physcally medicative, personally. The whites are a whole different story and are a great time in my opinion

Trying to propagate a branch of Damiana (T. diffusa) by layering. It flowers all the time, even throughout the winter, but never sets seed.
The HBWR is doing well under artificial light. New leaves are getting incrementally larger.
