Inconsistent growth and aborts
    #26059819 - 06/18/19 05:23 PM (1 year, 8 months ago)

Hi all. First time grower here. Most of my Ecuadorian Cubes and Golden teachers have been flushing for the past couple of days, but the growth is consistent and I’m having to harvest each bag incrementally instead of all in one go as most recommend. As I’m nearing the end of the first flush I’m unable to discern aborts from slow growers (a lot of them look dark but not necessarily black). My question is should I give these shorties time, or is rot a big enough factor that it’s safer to pull off any dark looking small ones. Pics below for visual reference. Bonus pic of a 56g behemoth I picked yesterday.

To help with the not sure aborts situation, harvest everything at once. Its all preference, but to me, this makes life so much simpler. Sacrifice some size, for a more even second flush. I say pull it all at once.

Side note, your tubs yellowing like that isn't really normal to me. I think you have some highly bacterial subs, which would be why your fruits are more inconsistent. bacterial spawn may be a culprit- do you have pics of spawn jars?

You’re entire sub looks contaminated to me. Just a thought, that’s could be the reason it’s not flushing right. I’d be surprised if, after you harvested all pins and aborts, you got a second flush. I doubt you’ll get anything else out of there and if you do your fruits might be sick :/

Yeah, that doesn't look right. You could watch the pins for a couple days. Take a picture today and check tomorrow to see if they've grown. But that doesn't much time left.

I used grain bags and then transferred to bulk

How did you nocc the grain bags?

Did you practice agar? did you clean up the culture?

Did you use MS to grain? because that's regarded as a seriously un recommended way of doing things. Syringes are far too inherently dirty.

I bought my spores from sporeworks, so yes they were multispore. I just injected the bags with the syringes the spores were delivered in. Of 48 only one grain bag had any noticeable infection (black), and the mycelium destroyed it. As I said this was my first grow so I just went with what was simplest. I have no experience with agar or liquid culture

I say get into agar work. Be glad you got fruits, because ms to grain is an absolute crap shoot typically.

Step 1. Take the vendors name out of your post,  spores are for microscopy bro.

Step 2. Take those microscopy specimens and apply to some agar inside an SAB.

If you want good results you're going to need to do some research and hard work. Start with the thread at the top of this forum, read it all.

Hey bud, i dont know which point along the way was done incorrectly, but something got in there. It could have been from anything, from your syring to your technique to your prep to your fruiting conditions. Youre tub is completely contaminated and those mushrooms look unhealthy. Dont eat them, just throw them away and start over. I'm getting amazing results right now from MS, but it is uncommon apparently. Just get new spores, make new jars, and try again. It sucks wasting time, but you already did that, so just be patient and try again. I would suggest trying a tek FROM BEGINNING to END, from a trusted cultivators link list. Im using bods again (loosely this time, as this is my second time bringing mycelium to fruit and i have learned alot along the way), ill link it for you.
