Leratiomyces ceres. Not sure about the little brown capped one in pic 1, but its not active either.

I found a but boy today which I’m certain has to be in the money - the stem was purple as soon as I picked it.

None of the mushrooms depicted in your photograph are Psilocybe Subaeruginosa nor do any of them exhibit blue bruising.


The blue bruising will be prominent and noticeable when you find them. 


Good things come to those who wait, the season isn't even half way through yet, still plenty of pickings to be had.

Possibly a Cortinarius species, such as Cortinarius archeri, however I'm not 100% sure as I only just learnt of this species myself.

I can tell you with 100% certainty however that that is not P. Subaeruginosa or any other type of Psilocybin containing species. Purple does not = blue my friend, and it seems that the entire mushroom flesh itself apart from the gills is in fact that colour.


When you come across something that you think might be P. Subaeruginosa, think to yourself whether it actually has the characteristics of the species, or whether your projecting you desire for it to be something that it's not.


When you start out hunting, it can get pretty frustrating, and I've been fooled many times myself.

Keep it up though, and I'm sure you'll come across what you're looking for :smile:

Wow thanks mate, that’s all very kind words of you.

I’ve been hunting with mates in the past and never had any issues - could have sworn the ones we picked were similar to the ones I’ve recently found.

But oh welll, it will be all the sweeter with infind them!

Unless you're just curious and want to learn about different non-actives as well, there's also room for that - plenty of mycologists and amateur fungi lovers on here.

I find the constant pics of subs grows thin very quickly. Your on the wrong forum if you get annoyed at people trying to ID mushrooms.

OP keep looking, maybe you'll find one the more interesting magic mushrooms, Australia is full of them

What if they're good quality in-situ shots? Find most the shots are of picked mushrooms which really doesnt do them justice, it serves its purpose. But im always on the look out for nice pics of any shrooms in habitat. Look at my haul pics are kind of blegh, uninteresting.

To be honest I enjoy pretty much everyone's pictures, I plaster my shitty photos all over this forum. I just thought it was a little rough how The Thing called out Rastuswatermelon for posting photos of mushrooms on the mushroom hunting & identification forum :lol: telling him to only look for subs is bad advice too

Ive read plenty of posts in this forum by waay more prolific posters than i, derriding new members who just pick everything they see and ask if theyre magic or not. Instead of doing some research themselves first on what a particular species looks like and then targeting said species. Not sayin this OP was doing that but even after finding subs OP picked some mycena and asked what they are. I know the OP didnt say why the mycena id was needed, possibly just curious, possibly thought they were active. I have no problem with people chasing an id for either reason.

My advice, if you must know, came from my experience on here when i first joined up i did exactly the same thing as the OP. Asked for an Id, got it, asked for another one in same thread, got it, asked for another one and just got nothing back for days and days and days. So i figured maybe i was asking too often.

I absolutely encourage everyone to know their fungi.

Sorry OP if that came accross too harsh. Im clearly operating off mixed messages.
