Re: Did Syd Barrett fry his brain? [Re: Sabnock]

The guy from the beach boys says he fried himself on L.

They didn't have any frame of reference back then for how much to take... I've met people over the years that had to deal with some lasting psychosis after MASSIVE lsd usage for a long period of time... they recovered.

I will say if you take a lot, or take it frequently, you may develop some psychosomatic issues...
It's kinda like a bad habit like chewing your fingernails. Certain things can put you in a similar frame of reference as a psychedelic experience... If you don't know how to properly integrate your experiences this causes anxiety. Many people refer to this as an acid flashback, but it's completely psychological, not physical, and stems from stress related issues that come from overdoses people did back then.

(The average dose in the 60s was like 250mics, now it's 100mics, standardized.) Plus people did it much more frequently in the past. Nowadays people just know not to take 3 to 5 hits every weekend.

Case en pointe.

I've tripped most weekends for more than a year before on acid and been fine, but doing the same thing on shrooms I started to come apart at the seams after a few months. DMT shreds me pretty quick as well, I'm only safe using it seasonally. I know more than one person with severe persistent issues from Nbomes too, I'd say they are the most dangerous of the things mentioned in this thread. So many horror stories.

There's regularly a person on here asking for help because they have stepped beyond their own psychological capabilities with all manner of psychedelics. Many after just a few trips or even a single experience.

It's all in your mind. Every mind is different.

Yeah, I reckon if I did a mg of acid every weekend I'd lose my shit in no time as well.  :uhoh:

People are crazy hey.

"Stepped beyond their psychological capabilities."

That's it. You've found the vein!

YES! "Lose your shit" might be a great understatment, down time back then was days after trippin.

Bear used to mic Monterey purple for instance at like 350mics...
(Or so I read)
At Woodstock they said "dont eat the brown acid."

That's because it was very potent and people liked to take many doses.

To the new ones that have stumbled upon this like me he didn't fry his brain. He had ego death so many times that he's not the same person and changed the dynamic landscape of his brain. Psychedlics turn the volume up in life and in your prefrontal cortex. Close loved ones that are sheltered from drugs like this can't handle this all the time. If people are " the same person" after years of binging meth then there's no way lsd did anything worse to Syd
