I dropped my new phone...

I've had this phone no longer than 4 days and I dropped it. I picked it up in broad day light and I dropped it.

(I see pretty girls every where I go)

It's a small hairline fracture at the bottom of the screen. I can either leave it, take it somewhere, or try and repair it myself.

I've never repaired a screen before but there are 100s of videos. Have any of you guys replaced a screen yourself?

I have the Moto G7.

Yep depends on price of digitiser and screen if it's worth doing. Technically u can just replace the glass which is cheap but it is nigh on impossible to separate it from the digitiser without damage

A helicopter pilot dropped his Nokia 101 at altitude. It fell straight through the gas station roof through my car window below.

I could still call triple A on it :smirk:

I didn't have a protector on my old phone and I dropped it a handful of times and not once got a crack.

Oh well though. Such is life.

Plenty of shops around in Australia for exactly this, "broken screen repair" advertised clearly on their windows... Australia is just a mini-USA so I imagine you've got them too, unless you're nimble and tech-savvy I wouldn't go doing it yourself lest you take it apart and fuck something.

I have a cheap ass e4 and I'm quite happy with it. It's like $130 and I'll probably use it 2-3 years. Motorola still makes good phones. Or at least Lenovo does which isn't really a surprise. The G7 is much nicer than mine and I wouldn't be pleased to have broken it. That's why I only paid $130

Are you serious? You almost got hit by a phone dropped from a helicopter? That’s like a one in a million. I dropped a c cell battery out of the window of a Cessna once by accident. I always wondered if it killed anyone. We were over a farm tho, so probably only a cow.

Last year I was sitting on my friends patio while some dudes were working on his chimney when one of them dropped their phone. It flew by my head and landed next to a parked car. It was completely destroyed

As for the OP. Get a new screen. That hairline crack will get worse over time and eventually can cause the touch screen to not work properly

Well that sucks!

This is why its critical to baby your new, u protected phone like its the fragile item it is. That being said, theres plently of cell phone repair shops out there. I typically find them at malls. Costs about $100 to replace a screen, not including the screen itself. I probably wouldnt try it yourself unless u are good with tiny screws and have a delicate touch.

That's what you get for buying a POS Android device. You shoulda got an iPhone then, when you dropped it, it would have shattered into countless pieces and you wouldn't have the whole repair or not dilemma.

But to your question. Drive it for a while and see if the crack pisses you off or you get used to it. For me, if it's not drawing blood when I send a text it's all good.

BTW - I got a carbon fiber-print skin for mine. Just enough grip and not thick like a case.

I always use tempered glass screen protectors. Usually that breaks instead of your screen. But now that it’s too late you can still use one to do a kind of ghetto repair if your screen isn’t cracked too bad. The tempered glass will make it feel like new, but still look broken. You can get em real cheap on amazon and eBay.

My case came in today. It's a tough rugged slim case. I like it. I did forget to order the screen protector though. I'm going to dig around on Amazon here in a bit to see what I can find.

i just got a glimpse in to the other side of "online shopping"... and its brutal. fuck that. just my opinion.

i prefer to buy from individuals rather than corporations. that doesnt mean i have that choice every single time

I was only briefly a fan of Amazon back when i was a teen, mostly cause of all the cool reviews they had. But Amazon over time just felt too corperate, too big. Thats why I prefer eBay, feels less like that, more individual/small business.

The screen protector overlay is a good idea. Its the second best thing to actually replacing the screen.

I ordered the tempered glass last night.

As far as Amazon... I still use them, but only for certain shit or if the price is unbelievably lower.
