Why must there be a "head" of household?

People meet, things happen, there are kids, women choose to hang around men, men choose to hang around women, kids hang around until ready to leave.

Re: XUL "who should be head...."

its not a marriage if the partners don't listen to one another, and take care of one another, and have a capacity for both trust, learning & vulnerability, without this its just a business arrangement. And a business arrangement is all many marriages are. But then again, if that's the case, it means that's all those folks are capable, of; at least at that time. No moral judgements are necessary.

I believed in these same values when I voted for Obama. How does that fit your narrative?

I wouldn't get hung up on Trump. It's not a Trump thing and never has been.

These are often values found within general conservatism and traditionalism. That has never changed -- hence the word conservative. On the other hand, radical progressivism Implies change.

Progressives move further away from conservatives, not the other way around. Even look at Elizabeth Warren. She once believed that a major problem in America was the destruction of the family. Now she would never utter that. Obama, Schumer, Feinstein, and even Sanders all supported either physical barriers and or talked about the issue of illegals flooding our system. They would never utter that today.

Feel me?

People change, then they point fingers.

How about some consistency?

it is a challenge to communicate that thought, as the meaning behind it is easily limited by human subjectivity.

the goal should be to see man and woman through G-d's eyes.

i see it as a matter of polarity, intended as part of the design.

the design of male and female, is complementary, and the two halves are mirror images, yet equal to one another in their differences.

the word “sex” comes from a Latin word meaning “to divide or separate”

if there are two seperate designs, then there are different intentions/roles for each of the designs.
(however, these two unique pieces/designs can combine to make a third.)
if there weren't meant to be separate roles, then it would be pointless to have two different designs.

the male/masculine realm is rational and logical. in this realm, meaning is conveyed with language and this realm possesses a positive polarity.  it is the conscious now - it takes on the role of a leader.  the leader sets the direction of all things.

the feminine part of being can be represented by a negative polarity. it is a void and a vacuum that is receptive to drawing the positive polarity into it. it is a womb where all things have the potential to come into being. this feminine aspect is subconscious, and does not adhere to logical thought. - here, the role is to be a helper, to assist.

the way that these aspects manifest themselves reflect G-d's purpose/plan for earth.

There is no "design" to biology, nature doesn't work in that fashion.  The reason why female and male sexes exists is purely for survival/reproduction and nothing more.

certainly there is a correlation between structure and function in nature.

there is also design to the immaterial/non-physical.

i agree, that nature just is,

however, there is structure in nature.

the phenomenon doesn't have to be attributed to "conscious design"

but it does indicate a community of process imposed by the operation of universal laws.

biologically speaking, yes men and women have different roles. women can bear children & men can't. outside of that, who cares? anyone can be really good at anything, despite their biological sex. we've evolved so far past nature. why limit our species based on arbitrary, imaginary divisions like gender roles?

as far as the "head of the family" idea goes; i would never want to have a wife subservient to me. good relationships take teamwork. the idea of a "head" (& the nuclear family) is outdated imo.

"outside of that, who cares"

It goes beyond just having sexual intercourse and giving birth to a child.

"we're evolved so far past nature"

No we haven't, just some people like to fool themselves into believing that false narrative for their own benefit.

"arbitrary, imaginary divisions like gender roles"

When it comes to gender roles raising children, there's nothing arbitrary about it. Evolutionary biology doesn't care about gender roles and people's fears that it's sexist in nature.

A person can attempt to intellectualize themselves out of accepting basic human biology, but at the end of the day nature wins the debate. There's more to a female than just a vagina and there's more to a male than just a penis.

I think what he is implying isn't about his own opinion but about the biology or psychobiology. This is even if he, you or me don't care about who is taking care of the children, maybe the natural biopsychology in the children/father/mother will. And it might be not only interesting, but morally an imperative to try to find the truth.

Coming back to main topic. The head should be tge children and the parents the servants. the authority should be the one serving and the children the lords. The one who gives orders should be in risponsability and servitude of those who obey in order for a systen to be flawless.
As this is ideal, just try to do your best to those under you and your best to trust those over you and to be honest about your position

ah, maybe. i don't disagree that there are inherent differences between the sexes, i just don't think those differences mean a woman has to be a subservient house wife while a father provides for a family. we're more dynamic than that in my opinion.

you raise an interesting point about children being the head. parents should guide their children (punishment for bad behavior & rewards for good & so on) so that their children learn good values, but parents should also listen to their children closely to help find what is best for them instead of blindly forcing their will on their child.

Yeah. I strongly suggest that the idea of authority as "do my will so things will be good" as antediluvian, primitive and simply wrong.

So the head should be the children, then the parent who is "less conscious" or simply put, its dumber and makes worse decisions and the least of all the most conscious and intelligent.

Most woman try to find partners for the better: taller than them (if they are supperficial), richier (materialistic), smarter(intellectual) etc...
So its traditionally common for the man to be suitable to be the "head" role.
Nowadays education system is working better for women and they are as good (if not more) mature and intellectually educated than the male partners.
So. it makes more sense than the children should be at top and parents bottom.

But most men are sexually dominant and most women submissive, so, do as you please in bed but keep your fetishes away from your childre n. Do not dominate yor partner outside bed and do not pick a partner who you consider inferior just for sexual gratification.
Thats the problem with most men, the high libido makes them have dominant sexual attitudes outside the bedroom which is humilliating mostly to them

When we refer to 'man' with plural intention, it suggests mankind. From this we can gather that the human is ultimately treated is a singular entity, regardless of gender on the material surface.  This is certainly true for many theological texts.

All the traits of those genders therefore would be considered surface level and therefore meaningless, in contrast to the heart of the human which is said to be rooted to God - or God the root and the heart the flower, to consider it another way.

Deep spiritual experiences are often garnered from relinquishing the ego.  By doing so, all traits are forgotten and quite often, knowledge of our very gender is a distant, forgotten aspect too.

Therefore, we could consider our genders herein mere clothes in a stage play with very little significance beyond...

A male that isn't somewhat dominant in the relationship loses all respect from the female.  I've seen it a millions times, in fact, that female will likely stop having sex in the marriage when she doesn't respect him anymore.

Feminism and this "equality" of the sexes is destroying traditional family values and marriages today, which is causing children to have unstable upbringings.

Historically, and for thousands of years, almost everyone would agree with you. Just look at our language. Mister and missus. Mister is a corruption of "master" and missus is a corruption of "mistress." Feminists would tell you that this is evidence of a repressive patriarchal society, but that begs the question: Have people throughout history been totally delusional, and only in the last hundred years have we discovered the truth? Or does the twentieth century represent a perversion of sound human values and historical concepts of virtue? That is what Nietzsche talked about a lot with his concept of slave morality. One should be all for women's rights, but perhaps we're missing the point.

Today is a perversion in my opinion because it has gone overboard. The problem stems from many women claiming they want "equality" of the sexes, but then behaving completely different in real life.

Many people are so arrogant to believe that humans to going to intellectualize themselves out of billions of years of biological evolution for the sake of "equal rights".

Ultimately, many women like any of demographic want to use the narrative of victimization to have their cake and eat it too, it's only natural to want it all at the expense of others.

You make some very good points. I have often been annoyed that when women demand equality, they do not acknowledge that this is a give-and-take process. I think every male alive knows that many women often do not reciprocate when it is expected, or even required. But then they have been called the unfair sex. Your point about evolution is also well taken. When you look at hunter-gatherer societies -- the most natural state in which humans can live -- it does not at all coincide with the natural state feminists are outlining. For example, there was, for hundreds of thousands of years, a sharp division of labor between the sexes that was almost never violated. Either humanity had its head in the sand until the twentieth century, or Nietzsche was right.

Who is "in charge" of the household depends. Some women are dominant and there are effeminate men out there who want to be with them. Typically a male will play that role, but generally there is a male figurehead and the inner workings are more complex. There are also very dominant men and very submissive women who want to be with them.

I totally agree with the perception. But the absolute is too much.

Most women, (maybe 99% i don't think there will never be a study)lose sexual interest in their sexual partner as soon as he shows weakness. That means not that all women do that. What it means is that there is no a implication, but a correlation.

So. I see the death of intelectualism and virtue and the arrival of postmodernism and the consumism as the cause.

Amusingly (most if not) all of the posts here are by men.
And this is ignored by them.
Pretty funny.

Also ignored is that male & female are 2 sides of the same coin.
They are interdependent.
And both sexes are slaves (in animals & most humans) to the reproductive instinct.
And then in most species, in a sense both sexes, become slaves to feeding their children. Perhaps most easily seen in documentaries of bird life. If one is adverse to being objective about humans, as it seems many are.

A study of biology, and of sexual selection, is very instructive. Two extreme examples are the peacock's tail and the fusion of both sexes in the angler fish.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=angler+fish%2C+sexual+fusion&ia=about

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=sexual+selection&ia=about

The idea that either sex deserves to be 'in charge', in the face of the objective biological reality, seems quaint.

Also ignored is that within each sex there is enormous competition, not just the growing of absurd antlers in both male deer and male insects for example, but even to the level of sperm wars * . And in many species, most males never even get to mate, from baboons to wolves, hence the expression "Alpha Male". So all those guys are less dominant than the alpha male's mate.

Also in the case of the male hormone: testosterone, we  find competition, aggression and war associated with it. Hardly the qualities of what most would consider a sane leader, but enforced upon the male gender by evolution and genetics.

Biologically males & females, at least among humans, have different aims.
The male to leave as many offspring as possible, & help raise none.
The female to keep her partner faithful, & get him to help raise the off spring.
And in both cases to get a mate with the best genes currently available.
ie. Strong, healthy, attractive and intelligent.
and this is shown in many species by the males fighting and competing.
Species vary in how vicious the fighting is.
Hence some women are attracted to dominance.
But as humans are the most vulnerable at birth and have the longest childhood of any primate, we end up being, very influenced, in this regard by our parents' behavior patterns and upbringing.

On another level, there are those who think part of the value of a relationship, with a life long partner, is the chance to grow together, through working thru issues. It would seem folks are very different as to whether they can even conceive of such a goal, let alone be capable of putting it into practice, with a partner with the same capabilities and desire.

It's very difficult to make a specific list, but it's called being a man or being masculine.

You didn't know, a male being a male is now considered "toxic masculinity"?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxic_masculinity

What about toxic femininity?  Not going to hear about it.

Almost every man I knew that got married and had children with a woman that wore that pants in the relationship.

If a woman makes even a little more salary than her husband, there's no respect.

From a biological perspective much of primate behavior is competitive and hierarchical.
Been reading  Robert Sapolsky who studied baboons in Africa. Their society is totally competitive and hierarchical. One sees the same thing in humans from the get go with sibling rivalry.

Human like to think, of sex as a form of pleasure, and an expression of freedom. If humans have an affair they think they are getting away with something, but all they are really doing is obeying the instincts "mother nature" installed.

Likewise ( a cynic might say) as regards "love", more careful observation reveals, folks really settle for the best they can get. And what they hope to get, is regular sex, in exchange for giving up as little freedom as possible, but regardless, of "who wears the pants", the joke is on both parents, as regards "freedom", once kids 'miraculously' appear, as usually happens, as evidenced by the world population.

"Mother Nature" always has the last laugh.

Through most of history, in most places it has been guys, that go war. murdering each other in brutal ways. And most of the governments were run by men, who started the wars. Most sports that have an element of brutality are totally dominated by men. And rape is largely a male crime. That males tend to be violent, in many species, and of relevance here particularly among primates is a documented fact.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=male+chimps+%26+genocide

In many countries, women are very mistreated and victimized and even mutilated--- by men.

Given these facts to get upset because women in the US often want to "have their cake and eat it too" -- you know 'hold the door open for me, but treat me like an equal' kind of thing ', & "tell me i'm attractive, but respect my intellect" kind of thing seems like just normal human everyday hypocrisy. Any oppressed group will exploit whatever advantage it can. Even in education studies show women & girls are as good at math as men, when cultural forces disparaging them are removed. Growing up in a culture that tells you you are not as good as another group, is a subtle but very potent form of oppression and aggression.

So statistically there are good reasons, for the notion that male behavior is more problematic.

it is the same male sex that starts wars, and outsources torture,

that makes the laws banning (or attempting to ban ) abortion, on the grounds that life is sacred.

Don't get me wrong. Stupidity is not a women problem but an human one. Males are as stupid as women are.

Stupidity, psychosexual application to everyday life and feminism are related but not one the cause of the other. I even dare to say than the basis of feminism is to fight the patriarchy (legacy of sartre-lover ideology) so, even if feminism fights againts gender inequallity it is not its reason of existence (another movements fought for human rights without belueving in patriarchy)

The problems of "gender wars" are:
a)feminism and the idea of patriarchy, the idea of men oppresing women and not humans oppresing humans. a lot of people who disagrees with feminism wants literally to give genders same rights and freedoms, and that people and the feminism collective are, somehow, in conflict, making the gender war worse.

b)Incels and internet coverage of their impact. For some reason, incels are not even 1% of white males on the internet but somehow, sometimes and for some people is like the incels or the alt right are a impactful and growing problem.

c)gender studies and scientific community walking on eggshells afraid and doing meaningless studios and not addressing the truth. Males commit most crimes, why? males suffer more from crimes, why?. Females are always seen as victims when there is a male-female conflict, why?... a lot of black pills to take here.

A multidisciplinar and selfaware problem is harder to manage and understand that a multi black/white/grey problem. so people are choosing sides in a model that sees this issues as a grey spectrum, like you can split those problems in smaller pieces so you can work on them(you cannot).

I grow up in a good family and I love them all. My dad worked and my mother spend her time cooking, cleaning and taking cares of her kids (me).
In my opinion my mother was the head of the family.
My mother is a strong woman and she kind of strenghten the whole family. And my lovely dad made it all possible. Maybe the are both the head of the family. As a team.

I think God knows that some men are capable of being the head, and some are not. Yes, the man in is supposed to be the head. But do not forget that he is supposed to give his life to his wife as christ gave his to the World. I do not know many men who offer their life for their wife. To be honest.

The hippies with their communes, in the late '60s, often dispensed with

In the event you feel you have won an argument here, with nasty foes who are against you, it still won't solve, what are apparently, very personal issues, at root. In the event you choose to feel that way it most likely, will lock you, into feeling justified, resentful, & unhappy, for even longer.

By the way I am sure you are right about some women.

But probably social class and education make a difference as regards what counts as strength, when it comes to respect, in those cases where this matters.

Also there are women who had abusive (ie, really dangerous physical beating) relationships with men, get rescued , and then manage to find a similar abusive relationship:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=battered+woman+syndrome&ia=web

just as there are men who seek out a dominetrix.
many people are locked into compulsive patterns
that they think or feel are the (only) reality
if they even ever question their assumptions

So it seems, people are individuals, and overgeneralizing, can lead to many wrong conclusions.

Just because there's been some ostentatious legal push to allow women equal rights, it doesn't mean that it is still equal from their perspective, as it's not. But you're not a woman so you wouldn't know that. It's just the same for people with darker skin; culture would have you believe they are no longer oppressed, but if you know someone well who's grown up with that part of the genetic lottery chosen for them, you will know that they are still oppressed. It may be far less than what it once was, but that doesn't mean it's gone away completely.

One only need read between the lines than be clobbered around the head with the obvious to see these things.

By the way I am sure you are right about some women.

But probably social class and education make a difference as regards what counts as strength, when it comes to respect, in those cases where this matters.

Also there are women who had abusive (ie, really dangerous physical beating) relationships with men, get rescued , and then manage to find a similar abusive relationship:

just as there are men who seek out a dominetrix.
many people are locked into compulsive patterns
that they think or feel are the (only) reality
if they even ever question their assumptions

So it seems, people are individuals, and overgeneralizing, can lead to many wrong conclusions.

I like that perception.

Ignoring individual potential for singularity-originality. Do you believe there is something essentially masculine or femenine?

"Do you believe there is something essentially masculine or femenine?"

you could look at biological and evolutionary and psychological data to come up with some sort of answer

or anthropological data and do a rough statistical analysis to see what persists.

Now there is also confusion with all the transgender and lesbian data

if I was to make a guess I would say a lot of the differences are cultural, and have varied by place, and time.

But a lot of the differences are also biological. As many people get emotional discussing this and many have "an axe to grind", biology of mammals and other animals may be a good avenue to explore, to get some sort of general answer.

Professor Robert Sapolsky starts right in with human biology, but gives a vast background in science along the way, and makes it all interesting with a dynamic presentation. He has an interesting background having studied Baboons in Africa, done research in the US, published books, and being a great lecturer.

This seems a good place to start, and it is free.

"the head of the family" would seem to only be a big issue, for some folks.
Mainly folks in what is called the 'nuclear family', in capitalist society,
who also harbor resentment.

The hippies with their communes, in the late '60s, often dispensed with
the nuclear family, finding the whole premise unnatural.
And seemed to enjoy relaxing gender roles and rules.

It would be interesting to know about both the Israeli Kibbutzim, tribal peoples, and hunter gatherers, in this regard.

You are cherry picking what to respond to, And want to paint those who suggest a more spacious view, as victims. It certainly seems that you are the one who feels, or felt at some point in time victimized by women or a woman, as what you state about your wife, salaries, and respect also indicates.

In the event you feel you have won an argument here, with nasty foes who are against you, it still won't solve, what are apparently, very personal issues, at root. In the event you choose to feel that way it most likely, will lock you, into feeling justified, resentful, & unhappy, for even longer.

"This implies you think most wars were necessary"

Well, if one group wants what another group has, what do you think happened throughout the vast majority of human history?

I ignored this?  https://www.nctm.org/Publications/Teaching-Children-Mathematics/Blog/Current-Research-on-Gender-Differences-in-Math/

Females CHOOSING not to enter certain fields of study?  Guess what, my niece has a masters degree in Bio-Mechanical Engineering at age 24, nobody stopped her and she only received encouragement from her male and female educators.

Where are these posts on biology I ignored?

As far as why I hold my positions is based in the hypocrisy I see in the current environment. No psychoanalysis needed.

If it's so obvious, you would give me specific examples instead of stating it's obvious.

As far as equality is concerned, I illustrated several examples that females are now outperforming males. Is there ever going to be total equality? Absolutely not, does that mean oppression is occurring?  Absolutely not.

The issue remains, some people continue to believe unless there's total equality, there's a victim and a perpetrator. That reasoning is fallacious in nature.

another way to look at the question: "Who should be head..."

Might be to realize that whatever your conclusion, reality often changes the situation.
Thus the question contains a clue as to what the real issue is, & that is the word : should

Now - a - days alzheimer's is the most in the media, factor that changes family structure.
but there are many other factors that may do so.

Hence whether one is the boss or the follower,
the rule:
"As you sow, so shall you reap" seems always to apply, even moment to moment.

as well as on a slower time scale
whenever the tables are turned
often unexpectedly.

So it seems the real boss is always, the laws of cause and effect.

From what I have witnessed, if the wife makes more money than the husband, she will constantly tell the world that is the case, she will degrade her mate because of this fact and take total control of the spending. She will also not respect him in the slightest and the marriage usually will remain very weak. It's also not uncommon for the wife to degrade the husband in front of the children about the difference in incomes.

If the husband makes more money, more likely than not the wife will still control a large amount of the spending and would throw a fit if he ever mentioned the fact that he makes more money than she does.

That's why I stated "from what I have witnessed" instead of "when the wife...", that's called acknowledging my bias instead of making bold assertions. It's called being intellectually honest about how I formed my opinion on the subject matter.

There is of course some truth to the point, that social status, which influences almost all behavior outside the home, will also influence things in the home and often in the bedroom as well.

Hence as we all know rich & powerful, - but old men - can often get "trophy wives", and or gorgeous mistresses.

Hence JF Kennedy could fuck Marylin Monroe, and Brad Pit (in this case not old, but better looking & richer than us) fucked and married Anglea Jolie, And Larry King & "what's-her-name", but you will never get a bitch that hot.

Tough shit. Man.

....What one sees  (or saw, I have no TV now) on the 'Jerry Springer Show', or say in a prison, or in gangs, etc. is most likely not the typical of the behavior of average humans. It would seem that very generally more brutish behavior is found among those struggling to make a living and experiencing the brutality of poverty.
....These days, among the educated middle and upper classes, often one spouse (male or female), is working on a future Phd., while the other provides financial support, yet they have loving relationships.
....Like wise among the educated middle and upper classes, often the husband is a house husband doing a lot of the childcare, yet the couple has a loving relationship.

...Given this, it seems your view may be distorted, by the social environment you presently find yourself in.

Generally the less money people have, the more important it is to them.
On a moment to moment basis.
Everyday they 'pinch pennies', shop at the dollar store, save coupons, etc.,
and often resent those who are better off.

(the most obvious exception is of course monks & nuns)

And the less work one puts into getting it, the less important it is perceived to be.
So a smart professor may, just enjoy the wealth in his life, without focusing on it particularly.

So again it seems qman's perceptions are influenced by his economic status,  and the economic status of those people he associates with.

Also of course, those stuck in poverty tend to lack education, and so their mental life is impoverished as well, so that interest in money becomes more dominant, in both their minds, and in the minds of those they relate to. Where as those with an education have much broader mental horizons, interests, possibilities and hopes. So that they may have more opportunity for happiness, and prefer enjoying others to "cutting them down to size".

"lack education"

Nope, I can assure you since it's a very wealthy area, the population is also very highly educated.

The people I associate with have plenty of money (millions) and education. I'm 48 years old, I have plenty of experience with this subject matter we have been discussing.

Now, are you going to continue to wrongly insult my social-economic status because you disagree with my opinions?  I really mean, how low is that?  What's your social-economic status and what's the status of your friends and associates?  Guess what, I would never associate your opinions with poverty of lack of formal education just because it didn't conform to my standards because that's being very closed-minded.

Mostly disagree. I've restrained women when they've hit me, but I've never retaliated with the full force at my disposal. To me that would be immoral. I'm far stronger than most women. Their full force vs mine is nothing alike. I could really hurt a woman with my fists, yet a woman would be lucky to give me a black eye.

I think there's a reason for the 'don't hit women' social construct - it's cause we are, by default, a lot bigger and stronger than they are!

You are the one that assumes poverty equates to less worth as a human being, or that I think so, (when I neither implied nor said any such thing). Very interesting.
That demographics often relate to opinions is not a novel idea.
That once again, you feel attacked seems also interesting, and that you ignore the part of my posts that agree with you.

On a less personal note, what many here are suggesting, is that:
1) although you may have some personal experiences that confirm or seem to confirm your view, that does not make it a universal fact. This is why good scientific studies involve thousands of people and control for many variables.
2) and also if you cling to this view it may help create the perception that you take to be the only reality.
3) that others here do not share this perception
4) because this is so for them, a few of the posts don't even take the whole notion seriously. Neither the OPs original post, nor your views.

Not that it matters, but since you shared:
I am so old, and my needs so few, and my isolation so great, that my economic 'status', is of no great importance to anyone.

You are of course right that many rich people are also nasty.

....The world is of course full of conflicts, on just about every level. People have kids, and envision, a happy family, such as one sees in the color pictures, in ads. The reality is of course far different. I see bitter sibling rivalry every day, that persists for years. Being children, unless they have extremely wise parents this will be their reality, that they are locked into for years, of largely self caused misery.
...Likewise people get married and envision, a happy family, such as one sees in the color pictures, in ads, and as you pointed out, one form, of unpleasant misery that folks can lock them selves into, is a form of vengefulness, having to do with presumed economic status.
....As a result of this, and many other types suffering couples inflict on one another, the lawyers and therapists make a fine living.

as I posted in another thread:

Once intense intimacy begins,
our own unfinished business,
our own old emotional baggage,
and our own self deceptions,
as well as those of the other person may be exposed.

To navigate these mine fields,
in a way that works for both parties,
is NOT trivial.
Repressed stuff is repressed for good reasons.

Hence the divorce rate,
and the fact that the end of 'the honeymoon stage' of relationships,
often results in much heavy shit

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=stages+of+relationships&atb=v167-1&ia=web

the link would seem to show that what we call "a relationship" is actually a process, that shifts and changes.
As you may already know, language turns verbs into nouns, thru nominalization.
"Relating" becomes "relationship". A process gets turned into an object.
I think it's a fascinating process. Its also called reification.

The woman visualizes a beautiful wedding, & then turns it into a wedding album to put on display in the living room for guests. As if life could be turned into a stable object...and the guy goes along with it...after all he's going to get laid regularly now... or so he thinks...seems, like its all just multi level folly.

Yes I was married long ago,...and divorced....and had other "relationships"...long ago, and would never make the mistake of trying to hold myself up as any kind of good example.
I am certainly full of many follies, ... there is no need to attempt to add this particular vanity to the list.

So its not just a trick of language, as of course society uses language, society itself objectifies processes. Hence the phenomenon you have pointed out, equating a persons worth as a living human, with their so called 'economic status'.
This of course has all kinds of brutal results, at every level of society.

In the animal world, status is of course not based, on money or complex conceptual processes, but often on strength and fighting ability aka aggressiveness.

As shown in this book I am reading:
A Primate's Memoir: A Neuroscientist's Unconventional Life Among the Baboons
by Robert M. Sapolsky

I don't know what forms sexual relationships, and their dynamics, took on the Farm.
It might be interesting to find out.

So apparently you have the fantasy that you will never grow old, get sick, or be in a situation where you are out numbered, or any number of other less than pleasant realities. And seem to believe physical strength is a key to navigating the world. Wow.

To me having such a belief is much more disempowering, than lacking great physical strength.

Many of the more impressive martial artists, on you tube point out that in real life it is always the best idea to avoid a fight whenever possible, regardless of how the ego feels about it.

Furthermore the legal consequences of injuring someone, in this day and age, ( even if 'justified') are often far worse than losing a fight. Years of prison in some cases in the USA.

As I said, I am sworn off fighting. I haven't fought since my early twenties. That was almost fifteen years ago. I have avoided multiple fights, although I have defended myself when words were no longer an option. It happens.

"You mistake me. I know I will get old and sick. It is happening and I am at peace with it. It is the knowledge that I can hold my own amongst my peers that gives me strength. I'm not the toughest man in the world. That's OK. "

We are all different, had different experiences growing up, and live in different environments, so of course we may view somethings differently.

I would guess that even "holding  [ones] own amongst [one's] peers",
also eventually gets taken away, from everyone. Don't lots of old boxers become coaches? ... of those who could take them out with one punch?

And certainly humans find many different ways to both compete, and feel powerful. Silly me, I was just surprised, to find admiration of aggressive physicality, on a forum where many like to show off their mental cleverness. Silly me.

In my youth I studied very briefly with this guy
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kumar+frantzis+tai+chi
Hsing-i Chuan in particular is designed to kill.
At 2:50 he puts fighting vs killing into perspective.

This guy however has a different view of what powers is:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=wim+hof

Apparently as human time & energy are limited, and various practices may take one in opposite directions, many choose, to focus, on internal development, etc.

Hence I'm not surprised by Tulipslave's views.

It very much depends on which parent is the most conscientious, industrious, and in control. This often is not the woman. Whether you think that has cultural implications, or is a case built by nature isn't important. It's not very relevant to my statement.

What's important is that children have a balanced dynamic between power and love in the home. That the heads are in sync. A family is a unit, and each person plays an important role in the home. Defining those roles are only the first step in raising competent, compassionate, honest, and powerful human beings.

the boss is not always the one that appears to be the boss!
(So much seriousness in this thread)
for example these 2 old jokes sum it up nicely;

Secret of a Long Marriage

A married couple was celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. At the party everybody wanted to know how they managed to stay married so long in this day and age.
The husband responded, "When we were first married we came to an agreement - I would make all the major decisions and my wife would make all the minor decisions.
And now, after 60 years of marriage, I can truthfully say that we have never needed to make a MAJOR decision."

The Secret Of A Contented Married Life

A man was telling one of his friends the secret of his contented married life: "My wife makes all the small decisions," he explained, "and I make all the big ones, so we never interfere in each other's business and never get annoyed with each other. We have no complaints and no arguments."

"That sounds reasonable," answered his friend sympathetically. "And what sort of decisions does your wife make?"

"Well," answered the man, "she decides what jobs I apply for, what sort of house we live in, what furniture we have, where we go for our holidays, and things like that."

His friend was surprised. "Oh?" he said. "And what do you consider important decisions then?"

"Well," answered the man, "I decide who should be Prime Minister, whether we should increase our help to poor countries, what we should do about the atom bomb, and things like that."

A wife told her husband to whisper her dirty things, the man then replied, "The kitchen, the living room, the conservatory and the dining room."

----
A newlywed couple moves into their new house.
One day the husband comes home from work and his wife says, "Honey, you know, in the upstairs bathroom one of the pipes is leaking, could you fix it?" The husband says, "What do I look like, Mr. Plumber?"
A few days go by, and he comes home from work and his wife says, "Honey, the car won't start. I think it needs a new battery. Could you change it for me?" He says: "What do I look like, Mr. Goodwrench?"
Another few days go by, and it's raining pretty hard. The wife finds a leak in the roof. She says, "Honey, there's a leak on the roof! Can you please fix it?" He says, "What do I look like, Bob Vila?"
The next day the husband comes home, and the roof is fixed. So is the plumbing. So is the car.
He asks his wife what happened. "Oh, I had a handyman come in and fix them," she says. "Great! How much is that going to cost me?" he snarls. Wife says: "Nothing. He said he'd do it for free if I either baked him a cake or slept with him." "Uh, well, what kind of cake did you make?" asks the husband. "What do I look like," she says, "Betty Crocker?"

This is the usual religious bullshit.  Trust me, many of woman have kicked men out on the street on their ass.

Happy wife, happy life.  Obviously she runs the show.  You can run your biz, or she can run hers or you both do something together.

Trust me, woman run the show.  They just let men think they do and I have no idea why but it seems to be to make peace.

Not quite, he is not filthy enough yet, but with a little effort, he could attain true Arab consciousness. You know like stoning women in public, beheading infidels, & posting it on the internet, and issuing fatwas on those they think blaspheme them. But I doubt he has the balls to become a suicide bomber.

this is kids' stuff:
"God over man, man over woman, woman over children."

for Arabs it goes like this:
a woman for sex,
a boy for pleasure,
and a goat for ecstasy.

Ah I feel so much better after posting hateful stuff, on a site dedicated to consciousness, and opening the heart, I'll show those New Age pansies!
But pardon me a moment while I go out back...
first I need a boy & then a goat, as women are shit.
and I will maintain this position for another 6 pages no matter what anyone says.
and then for another 6 pages, forever, as long as I can get a rise out of folks.

Anybody remember Thantos ?, he was another stuck record.

If Muslim conservatism takes over Europe and America, I will be the one with goat meat on the ready.

Did you know goat meat is the number one most eaten meat in the world? Also, in the US, there is a higher demand for goat meat than there is supply. This is due to the increase in ethnic groups.

Indeed, when I get my Kikos, I will market to Muslims.

Goats aren't worth much on the hoof.  It's a lot to buy kids, then raise kids and butcher them.  Sure, the meat cost a lot a pound, but it costs a lot to raise them.  Just not much money in legal farming.

I'm sure you're right that there is an increased demand for goat meat in this country, but the top four most consumed meats in the world are (ranked from first to last) pork, poultry, beef and mutton. Pork accounts for 36% of all meat consumed.

He meant that goat is the most widely used red meat, which it is.  It is also the most healthy red meat.  Pork is a white meat and only the loin is very healthy.  Poultry is also not red meat.

Beef is far ahead of goat. Beef is red meat. Mutton is ahead of goat. I don't know what mutton is classified as.
