Thats what it was like for me on the night in question, dreaming the whole time I was asleep. At times I'd wake up for a bit, fall back asleep and it'd just start right back up again.
Man reading your post makes me a tad jealous open mind, I wish I was that good at dreaming. Though I've definitely gotten a lot better at it over the past couple years. I was finally able to ask a dream character what they symbolized and they actually told me.
But then during this recent dreamfest I had a dream that two males were knocking on my door aggressively and obviously meant to come inside and attack me. I've had a lot of dreams about animals/people attacking me and have been trying to find peaceful ways to resolve it, so I made a conscious decision to try to just talk to the guys but they just kept coming at me, was a tad frustrating. Do you happen to have any advice on how to handle such situations? Animal/human attacks?
I just remembered I never replied back in this thread. I'm often too tired to keep up with all the threads I post in around here lol.
But yea...for some reason I've always been a natural and intense/vivid dreamer, and have good dream recall and remember lots of dreams I've had through out my life all the way back to around 3-4 years old. When I was really young, around 3 to 5 years old, some of the "dreams" I had were incredibly intense and almost traumatic in ways. Like sometimes my parents could not even wake me up out of the dream, I'd be conscious and sorta "awake" where I wasn't sleeping, but I would simultaneously be dreaming and not responsive to them at all, it freaked out my parents a few times when I was younger....I'm also prone to sleep paralysis, which I've learned to use as a "spring board" into lucid dreams and other bizarre phenomena.
What you describe, about two guys knocking on your door aggressively and trying to make their way inside to attack you....that is a very classic "theme" of a dream, I've heard it referred to as "the intruder" . I've had that dream many times over the years, I know how it goes....I have been having that dream happen a bit more frequently over the past few months. There are all sorts of variations of the "intruder" dream, but in general it consists of one being in their house and someone or something (people, animals, police, etc...) trying to pry their way inside to attack/kill.
I know exactly how that dream goes all to well.....I sometimes try talk to the "characters" that are trying to break in and attack me, asking them why they are doing what they're doing, pleading with them to stop or go away, telling them that I love them. It usually doesn't work. When I have this dream, it usually culminates with me getting so frightened at someone trying to break into my house/come through my window that I end up waking up/coming out of the dream...or they make it into my house rapidly and start attacking me (stabbing, shooting, etc) and I end up waking up/coming out of the dream.
When I have this dream it tends to occur rapidly, so I usually wake up soon after it starts...but in my dream, I have yet to make peace with or keep these people from breaking in or attacking me. There has been a few times, though, where I do put up a fight and actually beat up and fuck up the people that broke in and tried attacking me .
Here is one interpretation of the "intruder" dream....To dream of an intruder represents an aspect of yourself that is not supposed to be present. A violation of personal boundaries that is creating tension. A thought, emotion, behavior, situation that is interfering with a stable or positive state mindset. It may also symbolize something you are thinking that threatens progress or the attainment of a goals. You may feel that you suddenly have to scramble to keep your privacy or security.
Unwanted changes at work or in relationships often bring dreams of intruders. Unwelcome stress in your life.
While houses or homes can represent different things in dreams, within the context of this theme the home is usually a metaphor for our private life. The invasion of the home is symbolic of feeling like our private life is being invaded or threatened by an outside force
For myself...that is a spot on interpretation. Particularly the part underlined, without going into the details of it all I have A LOT of shit going on in my life at the moment and the intruder dreams seems like a direct manifestation/metaphor of such.
Another common theme I have in dreams is bears! For the past 8 years or so bears have been a very common "archetype" or symbol of sorts in my dreams....I haven't put my finger directly on what they symbolize in my dreams, but I feel they represent fear.
They only appear when I am dreaming in an outdoor/nature setting....When they appear they come with a component of fear, but I also notice that feeling any fear in my dream can sometimes create/manifest bears. (I find the key to controlling/exploring ones dreams is becoming aware of how one's feelings/thoughts in a dream will create/manifest, I've learned that there is a constant feedback between one's emotions/thoughts and what is occurring in the dream)....
....So when I'm dreaming in an outdoors/nature setting, sometime bears will be present. They always bring a component of "fear" and apprehension when present. Sometimes they will be trying to come after me and attack me, other times they are just meandering about and just "present" in the dream. I've learned that when I show no fear, when I manage to not be afraid of the bears in my dream, I can scare them away or fight/kill them, or at least dissolve away the component of fear that is typically associated with them. When bears are present, if I'm afraid they will likely be tying to come after me and attack, but when I don't show fear they won't bother me.
Quote: I appreciate your input. Since you sound like the most skilled lucid dreamer I've ever spoken to I'll ask you: What do you enjoy doing in dreams? Or what do you find the most productive to do in dreams? My main goal is simply to use lucidity to more carefully examine the symbols, note the colors of things, and ideally to speak to the dream characters and ask them questions about what the dream is trying to teach me. And of course sometimes I'm simply trying to have fun, sex, fly, etc. What do you do for fun in dreams?
The common things....like flying....but I also love exploring, some of my lucid dreams have such strong feelings of "adventure" and exploration, it's some of the most fun ever...exploring jungles and landscapes on other planets lol. Or running through & exploring different buildings/neighborhoods/cities. A lot of my dreams have themes of exploration/adventure.
If there are other dream characters I often try to talk to them....One of the most common things I do when I become lucid and realize I'm dreaming, if there are other "characters" in my dream I'll say or ask things like, "Do you realize you're in my dream?"...More often than not, when I say or ask this, the character goes blank and doesn't respond at all. Sometimes though, they will respond with something like "of course it is a dream".
Sometimes I'll have long conversations with dream characters.....Sometimes I'll just cuddle with and have long intimate conversation with characters in my dream. It is so strange to have conversations in dreams, considering my "brain/mind" is creating the dialog for the dream character and myself, but I am consciously thinking about only what "I" am going to say (if that makes sense). So strange.
I feel I'm rambling now and starting to feel all scatter-brained so I'll wrap it up...there are some other things I have to say and other things I want to reply to in this thread that I'll try to get to at another time.
My most recent fully lucid dream, though, happened last week.....When I "came to" in the dream I found myself walking around in a forest during the day time, the colors were so vivid and real, it was like being in a sunny mountain forest while on LSD, and I was able to actually look around in the dream as if I was really "immersed" in the setting....I could even hear branches/twigs snap and crunch under my feet as I walked around. It was so vivid....Once I become aware in the dream that I was actually in a dream I decided to fly, so I did my typical approach to flying in a dream which mostly consists of me running and taking a big leap while fully believing that I am able to fly...Like to fly in my dreams, to even get off the ground, I can't have any doubts about it, I have to fully believe it is something I can do, I can't "try" to fly, I just have to "do it".
I lifted off the ground with ease and before I knew it was soaring high above the forest...but I almost regret deciding to fly, because flying got my excitement up enough to where I fully woke up and came out of the dream (lucid dreaming can be such a delicate balance of trying to remain lucid and in the dream and not let oneself wake up lol). And when I was on the ground walking through the forest it was soooo beautiful, I wish I would have explored the forest more rather than instantly deciding to fly a soon as I became lucid/realized I was in a dream.
