Spent a $1000 all on wrong equipment for flow hood plz help
    #26038782 - 06/07/19 07:18 PM (1 year, 8 months ago)

So I thought I knew my shit and got way in over my head and need help. First I bought a 12x12x11.5 filter which obviously my inline fan couldn’t work with, just bought a 779 cfm Dayton blower thinking it just a fucking fan that plugs into the wall. but It has 3 random wiring popping out and which I don’t think a cord can even be wired with . Can anyone reference a post about dealing with these  blowers and wiring them. Prettt much over this shit wish I could smash the filter with a baseball bat

All outlets are just wires inside man. Should have like a black and white and a ground, so just wire that bad boy into a plug from lowes (white to white black to black ground to ground)  and plug it in. Your overthinking it, itll be alright.

It's a 2 speed blower but I'm not able to find a wiring diagram for it. One wire of the 3 will be common and always hooked up and the two other wires will be low and high depending on which one and only one you choose to connect. You will connect the wires to white and black on your extension cord and it doesn't matter which way. Then the green on your extension cord needs to wrap around a screw that screws into the blower to ground it.

One wire is high. One wire is low, the third is your power. Get a toggle switch if you want both speeds other wise tape of the high/low wire you don't want to use and connect the other two to a plug for an outlet

Your inline blower would probably be fine for your 12x12x11.5..
Since your almost 12 inches deep your going to have half the resistance as if you would of bought the 6 inch deep..
Your filter is not going to require that big of a blower..

Don't you mean double? The thicker filter provides more resistance, not less.

Thicker filters have more surface area thus less resistance than one made of the same construction and thinner.

But thickness doesn't have much to do with resistance each filter is unique you need to get the resistance to know. There's 6" and 12" thick filters with a wide range of resistances.

Well I finished everything, I did the light test and it blows out at 1 inch but at like 1.5-2 inches it stays lite and flickering, it feel uneven but hard to tell. I kinda wanna buy and new filter that’s 6 inches less thickness

What's the resistance on your filter rated at??

As long as it has the right resistance (there is 11" and 12" filters that work for flowhoods) you should be able to make it work, though I'm not sure if the blower you bought is strong enough

Did you do the math to figure out your blower speed for specific filter?

Eh it was more like 360 for the filter and 200 for the fan and like 80 for parts, I exaggerate, and yeah I ain’t tripping, it’s a fun hobby I care about so I’m gonna reach  my goal and most likely just get this flow 24 model by air science and call it a day.
