I remember reading once humans before lights were invented slept in 2 shifts, first sleep and second sleep, since Im not working currently it is a good time to test it, the goal is to get the bed sooner and hopefully cure my going to bed late problem, the only thing is I dont know when I should get up, im thinking 2 oclock

I do.
I work graveyard thou. I get home about 9am, go to bed arouns 9:30am then wake up around 2:30pm. Then typically i will take a nap before work (at midnight) around 7pm.
But on my days off, i sleep continuously, and its waaaaay better.

I wake up about three times a night. Piss and vape. Seems that dreams wake me up. That and it gets uncomfortable in the same position and full bladder. Water next to bed is a must.

The last little bit I have been sleeping 4 or 5 hours at night and supplementing with naps some days. Would not recommend but I'm not really in a good headspace right now.

I find its harder to go back to sleep if you try in an hour or two. Need several hours to feel tired enough, at least in my experience.

8 hours without a major wake up in brain waves is highly recommended and proven. For mood, health and sustained energy.
I think a lot these abnormal rythms were for a psychotic edge. Only a few people had good ideas and inventions that were a bit nutty. Most people that are that way are just nutty.

I do. It's very hard for me to get 8 hours of continuous sleep. I usually sleep about 5-6 hours a day, and then I take a nap for about 2 hours. I'm not myself until I get that crucial nap in the middle. Otherwise I'm a depressed, nihilistic zombie.
I have had times where I'd sleep for almost 8 hours... about 7 hours and a half. I still need that nap in the middle. For whatever reason, my body will not register two full cycles of REM.

I've read that too. Honestly, I don't think it's the way to be unless you're naturally prone to it, but I applaud the attempts.
If going to bed late is a problem, there is this brilliant thing of intentional prolonged sleep deprivation. It's basically setting a sleep time that you can't sleep before. If you chronically stay up too late, you'll chronically worry about the time you wake up. You'll always compensate and that throws the cycle off further. When you say "I can't sleep until midnight and I'm getting up at 6", you'll find yourself looking forward to sleep and the staying up late + compensation cycle stops.
I found that really helpful for insomnia.
