1 week past 100% colonized.....
    #2603176 - 04/26/04 12:18 AM (19 years, 11 months ago)

Yes, I have the worst timing. :mad2: I have 10 BRF jars that will be 100% colonized(judging from growth on the outsides of the cakes) within 3-4 days. I am going on vacation to Alaska in 6 days. I will be gone for one week. Will the jars be o.k. if I leave them be for a week past 100% colonization? I can't see why a week would hurt too much but still I was wondering........

Thanks!!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

you'll start pinning in the jars and will sacrifice yeild majorly but you could come home and case em rather than fruiting 10 brf jars and make up for it! EZ

ok they should be done in 3-4 days, leave them in an extra two to get good strong growth, that puts you at day 6 right before you leave. At day 6 crush them up chop them up what ever and make casings. Put them in the terarium in a dark place 2-3 days later maybe even longer they will fully colonize the casing. Pins in an other 2-3 days or longer(prolly longer as you wont have any light sorce). That puts them realy close to when you would be coming home for starting to pin. I'm a newb grower but doesnt seem like there would be any problems to me if you just made casings. This sound right to anyone else?

even if it does start pinning you can just pick em off and case it....chances are they will do nothing while your gone but get a lil thicker

The won't start pinning in the jars until much after your return date. Just go on vacation and let them get fully colonized. Upon your return, birth them.

According to the teks-you should leave them in the jars for a few days to a week after full colonization-then birth them or case them.
You should be fine.
As long as they do not get any light they wont pin(or shouldnt)

Do as blueferret says and case them before you leave if you feel safer. That way when you come back you can give them the fresh air and light needed for pins.

Thanks everyone!!!
I was planning on casing them. I was going to wait until I got back to do it though. I think I am going to wait. I was just wondering anyone knew of any major problems this might cause.
Thanks for all the info guys!!!!
