For confirmation: Pan foenisecii does not form any sclerotia at all, and is a very poor colonizer of grain. I believe that without shaking it would never even fully colonize.

I found about an ounce dry weight of pan cincts and I've eaten five to seven Gramsd on multiple occasions and I never cared for the trip that they gave me. I tripped good and had visuals. It made me feel icky and lethargic. Same with my wife. Honestly I don't think they are my cup of tea.
I am also out of prints. Hopefully everyone will share their progress here with us.

I found cincts at Ft. McHenry in Baltimore before in the grassy lawn.  The park police patrol the area on horseback.  That's why.

Foes aren't active either. There may be other pans that form sclerotia, but I don't know that for a fact. I do believe there is a species complex, or a wide variety of similar species. There are experts working on this problem as we speak. I'm anxious for answers.

10 grams dry of the cincts I pick will destroy anybody! 3 grams is certainly more than enough. Definitely comparable to average cubes.

Still makes me question whether they were actually the same species as what I'm finding.

Got a few jars on oats that are a couple of days away from full colonisation.

They were going soooo slow from the initial inoculation of agar wedges almost a month ago.
I literally thought they were going to take forever until I shook the shit out of them not even a week ago, and they all took off again straight away. Definitely got things moving.

I think I’m going to use them to noc up some either sterilised or pasteurised (maybe both) horse dung, coir and verm at the weekend.

This is the underside of the plate I posted this morning. Half of it went on to BR and the other half on WBS and also transferred a blob to a new plate. I have 3 plates now that all received transfers from myc that had signs of stones or blobs.

Nice! Looking just like my oat jars of cincts usually do. Kinda fluffy and wispy. Slow. Looks like you have a winner!

I suggest tossing some pine shavings in your substrate. Will definitely help stone production. So far I've found them attached to wood, hay, and leaves. Not in the horse manure. Seems they form when the mycillium hits a barrier.

I think bacteria and mold contributes to sclerotia forming on agar. Or drying out. My plates usually make a few stones after a couple months when they are drying up.

This is all just my thoughts. Not necessarily the facts or best ways. This is uncharted territory! Lol

That would make sense as my initial plates have loads of blue stones especially where it was swiped, where as the later transfers of clean mycelium have very little to none.

Holy smoly!  Lots of great posts today!  Where do I even begin???  No time today for a proper response to everything said.  Plenty of advances in this "uncharted territory" made today from everyone, and notable mention to Subfinder for some of your nuggets of wisdom again.

@ Subfinder, LOL, I don't mind picking shrooms from dung but those pearls still appear to have poo on them, so hence why I didn't wanna suggest eating them.  Buuuuuuut... if ya wanna be the one to set another  "first" on this thread, please feel free to chow down a gram and let us know what ya think!  We are all longing to hear someone's report of doing so.

On another note, I bought a bag of sheep manure and a bag of cow manure.  Mixed both with some verm & plenty of coir.  Cased Asura's pan cyan Alabama and some Warrens.  Now crossing fingers for a couple of weeks!  Hope to get some fruits soon.

FWIW a few years ago I did find a cinct on a lawn.  I do believe that it is certainly possible.  My current understanding is that well fertilized brand new lawns in new neighborhoods would be the best in-city locations to hunt.  But I will concede now that a horse farm is the primo place to search.  My 2 cents.

If this thread pans out (lol, pun) then cinct prints will probably become a bit more popular for trades and sale by vendors.  I wonder when a vendor will start selling "Warren".

I've only taken 2 cyan variations.  Pretty much the same.
Also I found not much difference between cyan, trop and cambos.

If you want to get into pans. I suggest bisporus.

As far as the cinct question, it's hard to say since Alan thinks there are multiple species being called cinctulus.

Why would you suggest those bisporus?  You raised my curiosity.

I shall hunt down some soon now that you've mentioned it and hopefully the red spore cyans Asura is working on.  I am also set on growing a Hawaiian someday too... then I should just quit trying strains after that LOL.

You sound like me 5 years ago.  Lol.

I suggest bisporus because it's my favorite pan I've tried.  No body load at all.

So... am I to assume that I shall grow up to become a Gargamel in 5 years too?  LOL

OOOOOoooooooouuuuuuuu... Ya had me at your last line like the cliche "ya had me at hello".  It is now a definite addition to my wish list.

I have decided to give up cubensis mainly for that reason, body load.  Decided to go all in on section mexicana and pans.  LOL, but I decided to try a few other varieties of cubes, for one because Fisherman's Albino's look stunning & wanted to do an ornamental grow in my yoga studio, and since then decided to try a couple other varieties to see for myself what I actually think of the "a cube is a cube" debate (experiment myself to have an actual opinion rather than accepting what others say, which seems hotly debated).

Thank goodness for small pint jars... even with their small size I think I shall still have waaaay more than I will need for personal consumption (mainly microdosing) considering the bunch of strains I am currently juggling.  But boy is this ever fun!  I love staring at jars LOL.  I wonder sometimes... why do some people grow so many large jars and fruit in such large tubs?  Do people actually consume so many mushrooms?  Or are they actually selling?  Seems that one tub grow could last someone many months, if not years.  Anyhooo... just curious.  Personally  happy to do numerous small jars, for fun & variety.

A small shoebox grow would last me personally years, lol. To each their own.

Plot twist: There can be no body load if there's no body! Take higher doses!

LOL, I agree that a shoebox would be plenty.

No body huh?  Well, I shall confess to having poultry in my ancestry as I have never done more than 2g cubes.  Want to! But want to find a trusted sitter.  Wish some of you lived closer.

Dude the whole mold/bacteria stone correlation is something I was considering. I was actually talking to asura over at mycotopia about it when the site was down. Almost every stone I tried transferring from my germ plates ended up having a lot of bacteria on it. Only one beat the bacteria enough to colonize some of the agar so I could clean it up. Interesting that you notice what I seem to be noticing

What I said isn't entirely correct anyway. More is not always better. But if you can just lay still, and focus hard on the experience, you can lose touch with your body such that it stops bothering you altogether. "Body load" will become irrelevant.

Hey HobbitGDF. Would you believe shroomology banned me for trying to let you know some of us were hanging out at mycotopia while the shroomery was down?

Telling someone to eat a large dose of those dung stones brings new meaning to the phrase "eat shit and die" (think ego death)
