They’re mature. Harvest when the veil is about to break.

1st flush. Spawned on 3/13. Pins 4/6 harvest 3/15

I used an unmodified mono that wasn't the best for FAE..but hopefully my adaption will yield better looking shrooms on the 2nd flush. Also adding a layer of verm after the dunk.

using this tek for my first grow, one jar is growing one huge mushroom out of the top and the rest are just growing pretty decent sized ones on the sides. How long will it take for them to start growing out of the top? Misting once every day with artificial light.

Edit: Also, are the ones growing out of the sides good to pick too if i pop the cake out? Or, should I just stick to the ones on top? Worried they'll be ready for harvest at different times and it'll be a pain.

Thanks for this tek bod. It's about 9 months late, but here's the biggest damn mushrooms I've ever grown, and it was in a half pint jar following your tek:

I will most certainly be doing some of these TEKs this weekend. Thank you for making them available, easy to follow, and entertaining as hell to read.

Looks amazing. how many grams did you get off that one cake and is it possible to flush it a second time?

Thanks, I didn't expect it to do so good. I should have weighed it but I didn't. Yes I got a second flush but it was nothing compared to the first. I still have it and I'm seeing if I can get a third out of it.

How often did you mist the cake and give it a fresh air exchange?

Fresh air exchange is something that happens 24/7 automatically not something you give.

Thanks bod for a tek that looks like even I can manage it! I'm new to cultivation, and this seems like an excellent way in. I have a few questions I don't think have been answered in this thread yet.

First, I'm wondering if I can make the BRF cakes/jars ahead at all. Since you sterilize them, I would imagine you could at least mix the verm and brf and get the jars put together, but could you safely sterilize them ~24-36 hours before inoculating, if you stored them in a sterile airtight container afterwards or something like that?

Second, I'm limited in my options for places to keep the jars while they do their thing, given where I'm living and my roommate situation. I was thinking my bedroom, since that would be an easy spot to keep an eye on them, but I usually have a fan running for white noise and air movement (I, like psilocybes need FAE!) at night. Would that be too much air movement for the jars, even with the bags on? If I can make up for it with attentiveness and misting, that would be my preferred. Another option is my closet (I know that's not ideal - small, would need a light and a timer, lack of air movement much more of an issue), with the door cracked for air movement, which might be enough given my preferred sleeping conditions. There's also a storage room off my bedroom that has windows, but that's accessed by other people in the house and I'd prefer to avoid it, and in a couple of weeks the temp in there will probably be too high for good conditions anyway. And then there's the basement, but I'm guessing that would be a problem for low temp reasons (it stays in the 60s) and possible mold issues (though it's a pretty dry basement, we don't get flooding or anything, but it's not a finished basement).

So my instincts say that of some bad options, my closet might be best for my ability to better control the environment. But I'd welcome any and all advice.

Thanks again.

A day or two before inoculation is fine. You can leave them on your countertop to cool down.

Ask your room mate about where you can put jars that you'll both agree. DO NOT keep people you live with in the dark about using their residence to manufacture drugs. Doesn't matter if it's only in your room it's everyone's risk.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't clear. They don't really want to see them, so I'm looking for spots that will be unobtrusive but won't retard growth too badly. This isn't really a thing I want in the common spaces anyway.

Thanks for confirming I can make ahead a bit. I admit, I've been bitten by the bug and I want to be ready to go in a day or two. Who knows what this first experience will bring, but I really like the thinking and work that's going into this. People keep telling me I'll find my passion in life. It would be unfortunate if it's this, if only from a social acceptance perspective.

They'll need to cool down enough to inoculate so i usually make stuff the day before and inoculate the next. If you have a hood that will really help cool things down to inoculate the same day
