Tiny black spot
    #2602444 - 04/25/04 10:27 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I just innoc'd 12 1/2 pint jars yesterday, first grow, made own syringes, followed everything as well as possible. After only 12 hours there was growth some pure white growth around the innoculation points, but also at one there was a tiny black dot the size of a pin head.
All of the other jars are perfectly fine, is it possible the lids of the jars or something were not clean and while inserting the needle I touched it and boned the jar but some how it came off only in that jar?
If the dot dissapears or discontinues grow would it be cool to still use the jar in a casing? If I just throw that bit out when I crumble and the inside of the rest of it looks cool, I think I should be good.

Are you sure the black dot isn't just spores ?

If the spot disappears, then it would be cool. If it continues to grow then it's not cool at all, as you'll have to throw away that jar.

It depends on the contaminant and its growth but normally that's what you should do.
