A foot?

I hope to see it. That would be one large and healthy specimen!

Remember to check for yellow bruising and an almondy odor. There are some species that look similar where those features are different.

Happy mushrooming!

they bruised yellow on the stalk when i was washing them off... the odor smelled sweet at first but ive had them in plastic bags in the refrigerator and now they just smell like almonds... they are definately augustus! the only other thing they couldve been is a.praeclaresquamosus which is a grayer version of this mushroom, the gills are usualy pinkish and stain green sometimes just from wet weather... these are definately prince mushrooms and im going to enjoy them alot!

Sheesh...You're finding Liberty caps and A. agustus ... especially at this time of year, you are awfully lucky.

Quote:

plastic bags in the refrigerator

You need to let them breathe. They should be kept in paper bags. You can throw a damp paper towel in the bottom to keep them moist.

Plastic accelerates their decomposition.
