is there life after 20?
    #2602295 - 04/25/04 09:57 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I am going insane from this.
I will be 22 soon.
graduated from HS 4 years ago..and I feel like I havent done shit.
I have no long term relationship going
I never kick it with my friends anymore
I have a worthless job
I dont think i wiill ever be able to go to college
life sux... but im not unhappy though

I think I just feel dissapointed
before I know it ill be 40..then 60 ..then dead.

what do my accomplishments mean anyhow?
ages 1-10 ruled ..innocence..dreams
11-20 ..a whole lotta cool firsts...partying

now I know to much
been through to much..and still get called young...which is cool
I just wish i felt it.

now it seems like the "best" years of my life
are passing and i aint doing nothin.. and if I was doing things just right then id just be turnin the wheel faster and faster

at least when im not content I have something to aspire to

being a adult sux

emm...its sunny out and the skies blue...pointless post
im goin for a walk.

Time seems to gather momentum as I age...subtly going by faster than the day before.

Anyway, I think the career thing, the relationship thing...hell, everything; it's all just a matter of time. Until then, try to do as many things as you can that make you happy. Don't waste too much effort on worrying about what you don't have. Hell, don't worry period. Life is so much harder when a fellow worries.

Now, if only I could take my own advice...

I'm over 30, and I'm already enjoying it more than my teens and 20's put together.

It's not over til you're dead.
And probably not then either.

there's no life if you don't want any.

if you want life after any time you have to get off your ass "RIGHT NOW/ASAP" and go find some. this is the hardest part, actually causing change on your own.

Get out of your regular routine and you may get happier - just try not to waste all your money

I was a LA punk back in the late 70s and early 80s. I ended up going to college on a fluke because I was also a high school drop out. The school never checked my records until I had been there for two years and then they let me take the ACT. I graduated with a literature degree which was useless. I got seriously depressed when I graduated and went back to live with Mum.

However, I had already lived more than one life. I had felt when I graduated that I never should have lived past 21. So just being alive was an acomplishment. Now, another fifteen years later I am a chef, and married, with a house, and soon to be bambinos.

My point? Just being alive is a great surprise. We all talk as if we have just one life to live, and yet, my life today is nothing that I ever envisioned. It may seem mundane, but just the fact that I never planned for the beauty and bliss that surrounds me makes just being alive all the greater. Some people might be bored with the home and wife and normal life but to me it's the greatest mystery how I got here when I felt that I should never make it past 21 with my personality.

I feel blessed, and my life is always feeling better, and as the brain cells rot the memories are left with just their happy essence. The pain of youth disappears. Hang in there. Your options get broader as you get older.

Besides, once a man, twice a child! At the end, all the misery disappears and one is again a happy young lout.

I get to do more now, and I'm better able to appreciate life.
My relationships and friendships mean more, and yes, I have to work, but that means more resources for the good times. Find a career path you love, or can do easily enough so it doesn't ruin your time away from work. Then you can just look at it as saving up for the greater adventures you'll have.

They'll want to suck the life out of you, but they only can IF YOU LET THEM.
