I had an unexpected 4 day hospital visit for Pericarditis early this month.
My cardiologist said it looks like I had a small heart attack recently that caused this.

I had some sharp pains in my left shoulder blade area and neck back in April but I
just dismissed it as rotator cuff/muscle spasms. :facepalm:

3 weeks later on May 1 when that same pain returned I got my ass to the ER.

Then 10 days ago the same shit happened: sharp left shoulder pain radiating up
the neck and throat and some tingling in my left hand.
This time the wife called 911 and back I go to the ER for another 3 days.
(My first ever ambulance ride)

I got blood tests every 6 hours, EKG, chest CT angiogram, echo ultrasound.
My doc stabilized things with steroid treatment, new scripts for Plavix and pravatatin,
and sets me up for more tests at her office for last Tuesday.

I get there and the tech opens up one of these cool lead lined boxes

pulls out a equally cool lead shielded syringe something like this

so they can nuke me up for the test.

I'm now waiting for results from Tuesday's heart stress test and Myocardial perfusion imaging
procedure to see if I need a cardiac catheterization in the near future.
Apparently I have some issues including artery calcification that may need attention.

At least I'm of sound enough mind to trust that things will work out for the best
and not to worry about this. I'm also glad that New Jersey opted to expand Medicaid in accordance with
the Affordable Care Act starting in 2014, the year I got sober and became eligible. I can't even imagine
how much these last 5 years of health care and meds would have cost me if I lived elsewhere.
