Filtered lids are also useful for doing multiple cycles it can become impractical to have to dedicate a pc cool down for lc broths.

The hiss is thousands of microscopic particles racing into your freshly sterilized sugary substance.
That's right mushboy. I have LC ready start to finish including pc time in about an hour or an hour and a half. Mix, vent pc, pc for 15 minutes at 15 psi, cool to baseline pressure, open in front of the hood and let the clean air cool jars, add wedge and close. That way I have the PC available again that day to cook grain or whatever else.

Is it ok to use a Mason grain jar with micro pore filter as a LC vessel?
Then just stab the syringe threw the MP tape and suck out LC as desired in a SAB to shoot up a bunch of grain jars?
Whats the max cc's you would shoot into a wbs quart jar?
Thx

I wouldnt trust a micropore tape, EVER. Not even for no-pour agar plastic plates.
How I understand it, micropore works with PF tek because there is a layer of dry verm at the very top of your media which ALREADY serves as your contam barrier.
Use polyester fills or better yet, SFDs. You can make 10-20 lids with just 1 regular SFD by drilling a small hole on your lid and gluing bits of SFD with a high temp silicone.
Make a self-healing injection port. Or just unscrew the entire lid in a SAB to suck LC.
Anywhere from 1cc-10cc per quart grains. Some people use more. Too much liquid might encourage bacterial growth. But hey, some say you wont get bacterial growth from non-bacterial inoculant. So what do I know...

Micropore is hot garbage. If it works you got lucky. Even layered it's not great. Poly is even ify for lc as if you get it wet you can get contamination.
They have little stick on sfd stickers on Amazon that are a much better option. The are around ten bucks for like 60. They last multiple cycles.
Most people pour lc. If you want to draw it up into a syringe you'll need some kind of custom bottle or a luer lock to hose barb fitting with silicone tubing.
I went full retard and am doing custom bottles.

When done they look like this except don't use poly learn from my mistakes. I lost a couple when I splashed the poly.

I honestly didn't keep track. About two weeks.
I used some of the same batch after only a week and it took just fine. Swirl every day once or twice and your golden. The myc really takes to the grain particles pretty fast and lots of little bits break apart/off due to the abrasive nature of the particles and the density/shape of the particles providing resistance to the water.

I had some LC, shot it into a jar and on agar they both went moldy realll quick! But when I look into the LC jar all I can see is clear liquid and Myc floating around....
Is there anyway to spot mold with the human eye inside your LC jars?
thx

the quickest way to find out for sure is to put it to grain.

Or test it on agar. It’s a good habit to get into.

Open jar, pour over grains. Use some to make more LC and an agar plate. If the LC is clean you have 10 jars ready to Spawn in a week or two. If dirty all you've lost is 50 cents worth of grain

All I learned is a simple one
Never dabble with LC without a hood.
