I don't have any pics to show but I tried those test tubes for lc about 5 years ago. They'll work. Single shot lc :lol: but you would probably be better off making 250 ml lc's and using 60 ml syringes.

at that point just use LI and save time its not even worth letting that much colonize IMO

This was my smallest, it was an old "empty" syringe I found and just sucked some LC into it hoping some spores might have been stuck to the plunger. It worked and had no contamination

Hey I need advice about LME Liquid Culture; 600 ml H2O + 1 gram Light Malt Extract.  I want to add Murashige and Skoog, to prevent acidification during colonization.  How much?  Only recipe I found is adding to 700 ml H2O + 24g Sugar + 3.5g M&S.  Anybody?

That's for plant cell tissue mushrooms are not plants.

Dont use it. Nobody worries about acidification of broths.

Hey MushBoy,  I saw this in the sugar and water recipe I listed above which works well on youtube "How to make Liquid Mushroom Culture" by MycoTrophic, who says this recipe is Tits!  He made me want to try it with LME.  I am switching to LME to avoid delays converting to grain food after inoculation.  I was thinking maybe the recipe I found called for it per it uses white Sugar.  Then I read about the nutrients added, and that causes pinning in Agar.  So I wanted to try it.  You are way experienced, and I accept this stuff may not benefit me at all, but I am Jonesing to try it, so I am cooking up 1 gram along with 1.33 grams LME in 800 ml H2O.  I will report back how it does.

Secondly I am confused how this working White Sugar recipe uses 24g White Sugar to 700 ml water and 600 ml water only needs 1 gram LME?  How is 1 gram anywhere near 4% sugar?

Hey please advise me about hot weather protection.  Is going to be 91F here Saturday.  I can put my tubs in a center bathroom that stays a few degrees cooler, and run a fan over an ice block in there.  They are still colonizing per waiting for next week cooler to fruit.  Golden Teachers.I found a graph here index/par/23277 that says P Cubensis growth colonization growth peaks at 86F, and warns tubs are couple degrees warmer that ambient.  It shows 1/2 growth rate at 95F and total death at 104F.  Any tricks to saving tubs from heat?  Will not fit into the fridge.

I’ve had tubs well over 104 for 8+ hours that survived.


I’ve noticed for fruiting most cubes do fine until around 85. If you can keep it below 90 you should be ok for a few days, especially if it cools off at night.


For the next 9 days 90 is the low here :facepalm:

Hey Stranger,

How is 1g / 600 ml H2O 4% Sugar for the common version of LME Liquid Media Culture?  I calculate 0.16% by weight.  If you can please explain the very light % with LME.
