That's a shitload of LC. I bet you'll find that you achieve nearly the same colonization times with less than half that amount.

Thank you verum Good to Know!

But then i have to change my brain prep again lol.

I'll see what i can do, because if i can get 8x 4.5qt bags inoculated with 500ml.

Hmm could be nice

Edit lol brain prep grain prep all the same.

Why would you have to change your grain prep?

Only because if i use 66cc less water, I'll have to get my grains slightly more hydrated to compensate for the reduction in LC going into the bags.

It won't be hard just another change lol

you probably won't need to change it much if at all. Myco work is very strange in that, at first it seems like every little detail is soooooo important and confusing but you end up learning that it's all way more forgiving than you had thought previously except for CLEAN CULTURES and PROPER STERILE TEK!

I once did a test with my WBS wherein, after a 24 hour hot soak, I loaded some bags after a 5 minute strain and some all throughout the next couple hours. I labeled each and even made a myco quart of the driest of the dry and nocced it up with agar to see if it'd work. All bags and the dry agar jar did fine. But the wetter side of things did better.

PS. if you are a noob and just read "the wetter side of things did better", please don't let that ruin your life. I'm saying it from a perspective of shitloads of experience with grain prep. Loading overly wet grains is a great way to fuck up your grows. I know it seems confusing... sorry

this is 100g of wheat which was hydrated and then dried out to be properly bone dry, lighter than it started at when dry.

60ml LC added and 3 days later looked like this

Yo mush, you were right about that LC. After I had made a second one that grew within two days on the oats, I figured it was toast.

Opened it up and it smelt bacterial AF. Rushed it anyway, so I don't mind. I have been transfering and isolating the APE culture anyway, so I have a really nice plate to make a new one with. Plus I just got one of those swirl plates :freewilly:

LC is recovering/colonizing sooo much faster than LI, took 3-5 days to see anythingnin my LI noc’d jars but 2 days after pouring LC its already taking off in most jars.. I guess that should have been expected since I noc’d 20 jars from one plate in 100ml, vs 15 with about the same amount of liquid that was vigorously growing LC.

So for the LC I made that is clean, I am finding big variations in germination time.

One jar took like 2 days, another took 3 and two show no signs yet.

What might be the reason for this... Also, if I know the culture is clean, can I just pour a bit more in after a few days or no growth?

because of the varying amounts of inoculate being use? No growth would be as alarming as mold.

I wouldnt.

I wouldn't either. Just wait it out. If nothing is happening it's just taking it's time or something is wrong, at which point pouring more won't save you.

A+ turned out great.

It's clean, but I have noticed some jars just don't take... I have gone back a couple times and poured a bit more. So far so good... Thanks Mush

Great tek! We've been in need of a basic updated lc tek for some time. This is layed out as simple as it gets and so effective. I love ELME myself and have never used much more than 1g per 500ml so it will be nice to compare with double that as this tek calls for.
Maybe I will get stronger growth and need less lc per grain bag?

Mushboy..

Have you ever tried BRF instead of using LME for your LC.

I use ground up oats to make flour. (Josex Recipe) Works great, I'm wondering how BRF would work...?

My stir plate came in and my last practice lc doesn't look that cool. It's only been a week though and I can only shake it. It was Karo lc. There's stuff in there but the Mycelium I transferred doesn't look like it's growing colony balls yet. The Karo has a huge opening on the bottle and I think there's to much nutes. I used a quarter size drop in a half pint jar.

This new lc is 50/50 beer and water. Transferred Redboy on agar into it last night and it's on the stirplate. I have lme somewhere but I prob need to get fresh stuff, I just like the convenience of beer when I make agar, Mycelium likes it. This is mostly just an experiment and to play with my stirplate until fresh pan cyan prints arrive.

Can't upload pics, bought a supporter account last night but it hasn't upgraded my profile yet...
