Is this the LME that I need to get?
Thanks for any and all replys.

Looks right to me. I think any light malt extract will do

But as a matter of good practice you should always test on agar
This exactly
I don't pour my own agar petris, Just buy pre made ones for like 60cts a dish. That makes testing on grain cheaper than on agar. That's my excuse for not testing on agar. Everyone seems to have one..

Mush, do you test on a bunch of grain or a single jar? I would skip the agar if i wasn't trying to throw my LC into 120 pounds of wbs every time. It takes me just a few minutes to streak a plate and then I know that the bags will be fine.

Do you guys swirl LC every few jars so you dont end up with myc on bottom after 4 or 5 jars? Or is it fine to just swirl once before pouring?

if i were making 120lbs of wbs id test on agar like 10 times
but a small batch of LC ill just test on a single jar. seal up the lc just like i would agar and use when confident the inoculate is clean.
i suppose during that single pour i could contam the lc but the same could be said about syringes and why add a step

I poured half a colonized 250ml media bottle into 9 jars 3 nights ago. I came back and only half the jars show a tiny bit of nice looking growth. Is that normal or very slow? I hope I swirled enough before each pour.

Depends on how colonized the LC really was, but that sounds similar to my results just recently. This has been my first confident use of LC and I even managed to dirty a jar with my technique.

I have a hanna magnetic stirrer that is the bomb. Well worth the money. I use to use it for extracting DMT and mescaline from plants and different cactus. Learned that on the DMT Nexus years ago. Glad I kept this piece of equipment.

I meant I poured 125 ml lc into 9 grain jars. Should have clarified that, but I do want a stir bar eventually. How long do you stir lc each time?

So I was going to order more media bottles to ramp up my LC efforts, but they're either cheap and shitty or pricey. I have 6 glass snapple bottles I'm bouta whip up some broths. Hopefully they will last a few batches.

Pp5 is life
Also not wanting to encourage laziness. My sterile technique is adequate but not bulletproof by any means. I followed this tek to a t and didnt test on agar. Nocd 10 jars and all are great. A bit slow cuz I didn't swirl enough before pouring but I'm just saying If you follow this and have a decent culture and sab you are golden. Thanks for getting me on lc mush

I keep trying out PP5 containers for various aspects of mush cult and want to like it but find the diminished visibility annoying.

Got me some LC goin, first timer here.

Not sure how important the lme is but I don’t have any. This broth is some diluted grain water with a single grain inoculant. Started slow but seems to be taking off!
I also tried micro batches. I am very small scale atm so I usually only do 2 quart jars of grain at a time. This was also grain water. Dumped this into two quart jars.

Does it matter if I shake the grains up after the pour? It had a nice little pool at the bottom so I shook but could I just let it soak?
Thanks mushboy, you’re crazy but I like you
