Possible Gymnopilus?
    #26016198 -

Found these growing in a semi shaded HUGE patch of woodchips near bushes in my yard. It has been raining a lot here recently.

The area is very green and wet but also gets direct sunlight every day.

The mushroom cap is 6.5 cm long.
The stipe is 1cm.
The mushroom were growing directly on woodchips.
The gills are very tightly packed. The gills are attached to the stipe.

Smells like typical mushrooms.no apparent bruising.

Do we still have mushroom around? It is almost June. What is the location?
I am just watching...

Spore print needed. The stipe is reminiscent of galerina.

That darkened stipe is a dead giveaway. Gymnopilus wouldn’t be that color.

Like doc said a spores print would help narrow things down even more
Their are characteristics of the fruits you tend to look for when identifying fungi
If doc says galerina, there is a very high probability it is I'm fact Galerina. We are only here to help

It's not a gymnopilus. They don't have viscid caps like that. The print won't help that much because galerina and gymnopilus will sometimes have similar-colored spores.

You have a Galerina species,  Gymnopilus doesn't have a Bald cap with a blackened stipe (stem). Gymnopilus will have scales on the cap and warty spores.

I don't think the OP is in the UK, I'm pretty sure he's in Nebraska, and you're extremely unlikely to find cyans in the UK at this time of year as they're an Autumn species, and they're fairly uncommon at the best of times.

He means that Psilocybe cyanescenss fruit around the same time as Psilocybe semilanceata, which is Autumn. Cyans are quite uncommon in the UK, but they might be locally abundant, so you might get lucky depending where you are. I disagree with some of the information on that page. Gymnopilus junonius is reportedly inactive in the UK so not worth looking for. Inocybe species are quite dangerous and not to be messed around with, so I wouldn't recommend hunting for those. Most of the active Panaeolus species in the UK are very weak and you would need a lot of them to trip, unless you find Panaeolus cinctulus growing on dung or rotting straw. Pluteus salinicus are fairly uncommon, and even if you do happen to find them you'll probably not find too many, so for that reason not worth hunting for. Your best bet is to look for Psilocybe semilanceata in pastures or occasionally on lawns. You might find some other Psilocybe species such as Psilocybe fimetaria, but these are extremely rare, and if you find them you should save them for mycological study rather than eat them - use the common ones for tripping.

Wow. I feel like an asshat now. I skimmed the article, I didn't see where it suggested hunting active innocybe species was a good idea since they are known to be posionous! I also knew that Gymnopilus Junonius aren't typically active in other parts of the  world which is how it is I believe in the US. Active gymnopilus mostly reside along the East Coast not so much along the West Coast correct? Classic example of how misinformation can lead to unpleasant situations. Sorry guys! I'll make sure to actually read an article thoroughly before posting it, or maybe in a scenario like this I can shoot you a link through a PM before posting it in a thread to make sure the info is accurate.

Thanks a lot, really appriciate.

I actually do not seek to trip, main goal is to take some print or alive tissue culture to my home country. Yet I find a web site that actually sell cyan  syringe. I will buy those for sure. And when I go hunting to find some other spicies I will search those muhsrooms you have mentioned. And if I find I will post to have an identification.
The location I will be searching is Coventry yet do not mind, it will be kind of first time for me. Still thanks for the effort and response!!

We had it narrowed to galerina but I was wondering if a potenital and specific species would be able to be found based on all the observations
