ID request. Psilocybe baeocystis? Liberty caps?
    #26012635 - 05/25/19 12:04 PM (4 years, 10 months ago)

Habitat: Central OH in the woods under a dead tree, about 20-30 feet away from a lake. Im going back today to find more, hopefully ill be able to identify the tree it was under, and im going to get some spore prints for sure.

Bruising: mushroom bruises blue. Also, it does have a semi-gelatinous separable pellicle.

Ect: The mycelium bruised blue faster than any other part.

Here is some mycelium that was blue when i pulled it out of the soil.

Here is some mycelium that is white when i pulled it out, i pressed on it and about 10 minutes later it turned blue. If it doesnt contain psilocin why would it do this?

Neither baeo or lib. Looks like a Mycena species, some speculation if they contain active compounds tho.

It is Mycena subcaerulea. The blue color is not due to bruising or related to any psychoactive
compounds, it is inherent and fades from the top down to the cap margin.

It is a truly beautiful mushroom, though.
