Im very jealous. Mine never develop all the way to maturity they always drop off early.
My 2 coca plants survived british winter in a room that is unheated 90% of the time so very cold. Radiators are shit in this cheap ass house we moved into so we rarely used all the rooms.

Hey guys, just received some E. novo seeds.

Do y'all recommend I germinate them directly under some high output T5's in a low humidity (40%) environment? This way they are already acclimated to lower humidity and brighter light.

My other option is to germinate them in my grow tub which has diffused light from a T5 fixture, and very high humidity.

I was thinking to keep them bottom watered in a saucer so that the soil is constantly moist.

May I ask where people get there seeds from? Like nothing specific but does a shroomery vendor carry them or something?

You have to take a risk with importing from a country where it's not contraband, or make friends with a hobbyist stateside that has plants setting seed.

Several people I've been talking to lately, outside of this community, have said they use neutral pH water and have their Erthroxylum plants in relatively neutral substrate.
One dude in Florida has his basically growing in basically straight sand in Florida.

Seems contrary to what I've gleaned from reading on here and several other places...
Thoughts? :strokebeard:

Mine do much better in acidic soil. Leaves will change from pale yellow to a lime green in 3-4 days after lowering pH some. The easiest way to do it is to add a liquid iron supplement which is
acidic to your feedings when you notice your leaves getting pale.

I used to try different soilmixes but my cocas never liked it.
Now i have them in standard houseplant soil from the foodstore and it works.
They are said to prefer a bit more acidic soil.
Citrus plant soil is a bit lower in PH i used it before.

As for germinating berries i use to put them i a plasic box with moist sphagnum moss inside under some not too strong light.
Dont let temps get too hot, 20 - 30 degrees C works.
When i see the sprout starting to develop, like 1 to 1.5cm long I put them in soil.
This usually works, but some just put them in soil directly and have good results.

Hi! Does any of you have this paper? "Biomass accumulation and alkaloid content in leaves of Erythroxylum coca and Erythroxylum novogranatense var. novogranatense grown in soil with varying pH"

My guess is that PH dont affect alkaloid levels directly but it affects how much leaf mass the plant produces.
A happy plant grows better and gives more leaf mass and by this more alkaloids.

Some types of growing media do seem to affect alkaloid levels in coca, read the paper about tissue culture of coca i attach to this post.
How to convert this to soil grown coca plants is a challenge but it should not be impossible.

Temp and light also affect alkaloid levels.

Some interesting readings, Uber coca Sigmund Freud cocaine discoveries, if your tummy hurts get 50 mg subcutaneous injection. "The psychic effect of cocainum muriaticum in doses of 0.05-0.10 consists of exhilaration and lasting euphoria, which does not differ in any way from the normal euphoria of a healthy person. The feeling of excitement which accompanies stimulus by alcohol is completely lacking; the characteristic urge for immediate activity which alcohol produces is also absent. One senses an increase of self-control and feels more vigorous and more capable of work; on the other hand, if one works, one misses that heightening of the mental powers which alcohol, tea, or coffee induce. One is simply normal, and soon finds it difficult to believe that one is under the influence of any drug at all.*"

He also said he didnt felt the need of redosing, i guess the administration route has to do with it. Really fun to read, he gave it to his friends to try it for experimenting purpose
