This tek is too amazing not to be shared so now there is a subreddit linked to this post. Thanks again ShaperDreaming!

Is there a reason these are growing in spirals and weaving their way around one another? I have followed this tek to a T and am a little confused as to why they aren't pushing upwards. I have just broken the seal on the shoebox lid to see if the fresh air helps them...

Generally that’s due to genetics and not the shoebox. Are those Natalensis? If so, that’s how many of them grow.

So I did p9 double compression is that a casing thought it was. But you said p9 or peat/coir casing for PE one or the other. Also you case it after it colonized? I thought that could promote contamination?

P9's double thick top layer does seem to work very well. I'll have to try it soon. P9's is at the time of spawning. A true casing is applied around day 8-10 when almost fully colonized. The casing is pasteurized and helps to not contaminate, even a late top layer of coir wouldn't be a cause for contamination.

Oh ok so if I was going to do a true peat moss coir casing I'd have to pasteurize it then?

Spores can give you a wide variety of strains, and Golden Teacher is just a name for a cube variety. They mate as they are without knowing what they´re called. Unless it´s a real stable clone from marketplace members, you´ll be surprised mostly. Fine flush, maybe lack of light and /or air exchange.

Seems like lack of FAE, starving for air is usually the number one cause for long skinny legs. What temperature are you fruiting in? I have noticed when I dialed the heat up towards mid 70s they grow faster but with longer hollow stems. Golden teachers as well as many other cube strains are best fruited in mid 60s for slower more pronounce grows. It gives the mushroom time to consolidate its foundation before sprouting. I fruit in a constant 65-67 and have really thick meaty stems

I have lost a shit ton of tubs and shoeboxes because I cant control temps. 65-67F is pretty cold where I live.
Ive noticed that arid and high temps, even though using assuredly clean spawn, leads to mycelial death, terrible fruiting, blotching, etc. .

First time trying this tek, used a 1:1.5 ratio. This is 10 days in, how does it look?
I've kept lid closed from day 1, seems very damp.

So this is how my shoeboxes look on day 8. Does this seem like normal growth given this timeframe?

Im mostly asking since I suspect there was some bacteria in my grain spawn, not sure. But that should result in slower colonization of my shoeboxes (I think…)

Looking good, could still be bacterial. The levelness of your surface is hurting my heart. Please do better next time, it helps pinset and more.
