Yup it really is that easy. Set and forget. Don’t mist, fan, or obsess. Just let it go.

I was just telling somebody the hardest part of growing is learning to just leave them alone.

So true. If you need to indulge any OCD, do it on sterile technique and agar/grain SAB work.

True true, the 2nd hardest part is getting someone who's been on reddit and just found the shroomery to believe the same thing

we believe! haha... but i think scrutinizing everything was rewarding... like learning to count on your fingers... or learning the notes to a scale... kinda.. whatever... but yeah, i got way too close to my first cake hahahaha... every.... single... step of the way... going to do this shoebox tek and try and fire and forget... might make for shorter days too :P

After several months of lack luster attempts at shoeboxes I think I'm on the right path now thanks to your Tek.

Yea it is refreshing to read, I've been holding off on getting more jars(only 10.88 for a 12-pack of quarts at Walmart!) until I know I have mushrooms growing but my jars agar was clean and jars are looking like no issues at all so I may just go for it this week and get more going

I really like this Tek. I found it shortly after I inoculated my first jars and I have never used anything else for Cubes.
It is crazy how easy it made it! Too perfect! I only made one change and that was just to add a liner.
Thanks for this Tek Shaperdreaming!

Hello all,
soon I'll try my first cultivation ever, and I've decided to follow the PF-Tek until I get the colonized jars and then move to this tek, which seems to be perfect for me. I've just some doubts about the quantities: considering that I'll start with 1 syringe and I'll try to do 12 colonized half pints, so I can use 4 of them for each one of the 3 shoeboxes I'm gonna do... what's the minimum quantities of vemiculite and coconut cour that I should buy to do just these 3 shoeboxes?
Edit: there's no need to follow the "Birthing, Dunking and Rolling" part of the PF-Tek to start with this SSF Shoebox Tek, right?

I would think the small bad of verm and a brick size block of coir would be enough for your first project and then some

I'm gonna try to get 1 kg of vermiculite, 1 kg or more of coconut coir.

They’re totally different techniques.
Dunk and roll is for cakes, this you mix your spawn into coir and just let it ride.
In my opinion shoeboxes are the easiest method to learn with. Fruiting cakes requires knowledge of surface conditions and how to maintain them - which is exactly what new growers don’t know how to do yet.
