Please rate my box!
This is my first grow ever. Crumbled 4 brf jars and mixed with 1 liter of coir. Cased with another liter of coir. Tried to make it as level as possible, edges were tamped down.

These photos were taken straight away. Lid is clipped in place and placed near upstairs window.

Looks good but I’d level the surface so the sides aren’t lower.

One of my jars had started knotting at the bottom. This jar took longer than all the others to fully colonize, so I flipped it upside down to see if it would help. Two days later it was at 100% with a bunch of, what looks like, knots. Curious how that will affect my grow.
Edit: I've just been doing some searches and now I fear that those knots may actually have been the dreaded trich! Oh man. Only time will tell, I guess... Fuck. I hope I didn't just waste all my good cakes.

Man, I see blobs in my shoebox. Growing some Cambodians. I got about 10 tubs going and this one looks the wierdest. What causes this?

Whenever I’ve had that many mutants it’s always been a very bacterial tub. Some of the knots usually swell up and turn yellowish too.

yep.
I just went through it with my purple mystic boxes. Had a few good ones but mostly just bacterial blobs.

Any ideas of why it does that and how to avoid it?

Looks good, that’s a quick culture for two days.
Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t dry out, it’s ok for now but looks like it’ll definitely start getting dry in a few days.

I really like this tek! Thanks a bunch ShaperDreaming!
Getting better pinsets now for my 2nd batch. This time I did tamp down the edges and:

GT from clones, 12d after spawning

Those are amazing. I can only hope mine turns out that good. I notice your casing layer is still mostly coir. My mycelium is spreading quickly all over the top. Anyone know what that means? Good or bad?

I used CVG (60/35/5) as sub and casing. Im experiencing the same as you with some other myc Im growing. Using exactly same method, so I think its due to genetics. Yesterday I added a verm only casing to a few of those tubs to hopefully get a better pinset. Ill update in 1-2 weeks if this helps things

Somehow I used too much water and my substrate is too wet.
Can I dry it with a fan or will it possibly contaminate? I’ve read coir doesn’t have nutrients and thus won’t contaminate. Or should I just make a new batch? I don’t want to waste any of my jars.

So you haven't mixed your spawn yet? Just squeeze (very hard) your coir until you're at field capacity... 1 handful at a time.

No I haven’t. I squeezed it and more than a few drops of water ran out.
What an easy solution!
Thanks

Just keep squeezing as hard as you can until almost dry.

Or add a few handfuls of verm to even it out.
