So I soaked these for 4 hours. It seems there's some debate about soaking or even not soaking. I really like the writing in this TEK, so I think I must be off somewhere. (Sorry for double posting) So I thought 2nd flush would be more impressive. Is this even 2nd flush? I soaked these for 4 hours. Or mebbe it's too soon? Just seems as confused as I am... 3/19 8 days 1st flush 3/11 Thanks fahtster

Was your first flush a big one? If 2nd flush comes in pretty quickly after the 1st, it’s going to be from the areas that didn’t fruit the first time... so if you had a big 1st flush, the 2nd isn’t going to be very big and vice versa. 3rd flush should be bigger in that situation

I have a couple doing the same thing.
Had massive first flushes and right now the second flush is like 3-7 mushrooms.
Faht you think third flush could be decent? I’ve never had such big first flushes so I’m not sure if it’s normal for weak second flushes or it just used up everything on the first one and it’s basically done.

The second flush is usually just the sub fruiting knots that have already formed in areas that didn’t flush the 1st time, so that part of the sub is already locked and loaded... that’s why the 2nd flush can come in like 3-5 days.. so in order for the sub to produce fruits in areas that already fruited, it has to produce fruits starting from nothing.. so while the 2nd flush is coming in, the sub is starting over in the areas that already fruited, that’s why 3rd flush can be bigger than the second.
Of course this is a general theory.. most of it depends on the culture speed and other factors but that’s a good starting place.
It really depends on the size of your sub and how much it put out in the 1st flush, as far as your question goes.. if 1st flush was big enough relative to the size of the sub, it could be a 1 and done.. or at least not worth waiting for the later flushes if you need the space

So here's what I got;

290 grams, 14 days from spawning...all the shoeboxes (4) were around 300g Thanks for all the input, I have a better feel for it now.

Mine was PE. One quart spawn to a shoebox, put out 485 and 470 first flushes. I was wondering what would happen cuz that’s more than I’ve gotten off a lot of shoeboxes in 2 sometimes three flushes.
Guess I’ll find out soon enough. It’s a clone so I’m kinda torn between getting the whole yield at once or having to wait but getting another decent chunk of mushroom out of it.

Yeah PE is weird too.. it usually takes substantially longer to get in a second flush compared to other cubes but they tend to put out nice and heavy first flushes when conditions are optimal

I've got a quart jar of APE ready to spawn.
Do I need to treat APE any differently than regular old cubes? Do I still pseudo case with coir at spawn or do I case again?
Never grown any penis envy before.
Thanks

I’ve never done ape but with regular PE I put a top layer of coir at spawn, and then case with jiffy around 80%.
PE is also the only one that I let colonize first instead of going right to fruiting at spawn. I let it get to 100% then consolidate at least a few more days.

Ape doesnt blob so no need for a jiffy mix casing, but you still should psuedo case with coir imo. I do that with everyone of my tubs no matter the variety

Thanks, what is a jiffy mix though not heard of that?
On another note, cambodians are coming through good. Dense pinset but fruits are small and thick

It's a type of potting soil people use as a casing. And those look great

It’s intended as a seed starter mix for plants.. consists of ~50% peat and ~50% verm that is ph balanced out of the bag. Needs to be pasteurized, although some have had luck using it right out of the bag... works great if you don’t need a pallet of casing mix. Just google jiffy mix seed starter and you’ll see what the bag looks like

Yooooo! My first time growing PE blob-os. I grossly underestimated their potency as well lol . My girlfriend and I drank some tea made from three little blobs at 2gs and we were blasted. It was a great trip too! Here's to hoping on a second flush. I'm going to try to clone some tissue from a cluster to honey lc and mea. The come up on these was intense, I'm going to try making them into pills next. Any thoughts on combating nausea?

Try eating like 10 mins before taking the pills. I prefer longer gradual trips so I don’t do tea, I always put some in a coffee grinder and pack them into pills.
Then I usually eat and take them. Sometimes I’ll divide the dose into thirds and take one every 10-15 mins too.
Never feel sick and almost always a smooth ride.
