So what do you think? This setup, which is hopefully to keep gnats out, looks like something from the laundromat! Just walk up, open the lid, and pull out yer shoebox!

I think I will do this.

I read 65-75 Fahrenheit for cubensis.
That's my recollection from reading a bunch of different teks while prepping the grow. I just did a quick google search since I don't remember where I got this from, and came across this,
Quote:
Temperature Fruiting temperatures should be between 70-79°F (22-27°C), which is slightly lower than the 75-85°F (24-30°C) required during incubation. The mycelium of the mushroom also gives off less heat while fruiting than it did during colonization.
Beyond the specific numbers, it does seem that fruiting is good with lower temps than colonization.
Thank you all - I will re-mist heavy, and see what happens.

That is just a random website. Kind of outdated info people used to believe. This website here tends to be the best resource. Here's a recent thread discussing temps:

The anchor link should jump directly to the end of the thread with the relevant data...
In case it isn't working for others:
Quote:
73-75 is a relatively ideal temperature. 80-85 will slow down mycelium growth and promote contamination growth.

Just a quick question on this tek. Previously I've soaked my grain jars before spawning but that step isn't included in the write-up. Is it just assumed that the grain jars will be soaked or is that step unnecessary here?

Most people stopped soaking the grain before spawning, but from what I’ve heard it doesn’t hurt. There should be plenty of water in the coir though.

2nd flush dropped some spores. Pic from yesterday, already harvested and dried. 55g dry. That makes the second flush higher than the first.

No, it's "Amazonas PES". .. which is not the same strain as PESA, I found out just recently. Source: http://www.en.psilosophy.info/species.php#xkyb

Fleshy & very dense stems. And damn potent they are. Tried half a gram from the first flush and got stronger effects than expected. Very obvious visuals already. This multispore grow is at least as potent as all the pre-colonized kits I had before. More than three dry ounces from two flushes so far. No disappointment at all.

Lol the description on that page is confusing.
I have prints for pesa and Amazonian and was told pesa is just s specific lineage from Amazonian.

Thank for such an easy to follow TEK! Here's the result; PESA from Filthyknees! With fuzzy feet!

290 grams, 14 days from spawning...

Hey, I need to travel unexpectedly for a few weeks and mycelium is JUST beginning to colonize the top layer. Is it possible to put the shoebox in the fridge to slow growth down until I return in a few weeks or will that mess with the moisture content?

When you use the shoebox method do you need to punch any holes in the sides or anything for air exchange?

Not necessary for these shoeboxes. The lids dont fully seal by design leaving enough room for FAE.
