Oh ya! I always use liners. I thought a couple slices on the bottom of the liner would help while soaking for second flush. I just ended up with a cluster of 3 massive fruits growing on the bottom, lifting all the substrate. I should’ve snapped a photo. I am assuming the side and bottom pins really just rely on FAE to start.

Steve- do you heat the tent or keep the room at 24 °C? Condensation inside those things is horrible if there's any kind of temp differential (which I guess there is, at least when the light is on).

Room is heated with a radiator style heater at night only. I only humidify the tent at night for three times 7.5mins. It keeps the humidity at about 70is all night. When the light comes on so do 2 fans to control heat in the tent, this also drops the tent humidity back to 30. I found the humidity over night helped with fruiting and keeping condensation on sides of tubs. I added the humidifier cause it was laying around and i felt like my tubs were too dry. I am just learning though.

You think if we used bods bucket tek and used this tek, that we would get good results? or does this tek "HAVE' to be under field capacity?

Instead of 4 quarts, use 3.5 water in the bucket tek. Shoeboxes work perfectly well standard field capacity

what if the coir bricks are 650g?
bods quote. "650g of coir that's 3250. which is 3.25L of water."

Doesn't matter, 650g coir, 2 qt verm and 4 qt water will give you damn near perfect field capacity. But if you want it a little under, less water will get you there.

I am new to this hobby and I would like to try this tek for my next grow. May I ask what kind of shoe box you are using? It looks like a Sterilite Clearview. If so, how big is the box? 6 quart? Thanks in advance!

I have some CVG already prepped. Will it work with this tek?

I'm on day 12 and the pinset is starting to grow. Although I'm concerned that the top layer is still covered in tiny water beads, the sides of the tub covered in condensation, when I crack open the lid to have a peek, water drops off the lid.
I'm worried is too humid / wet in there. Checked through the OP and no mention of fanning is mentioned, it's true set and forget, so unsure if I'm worried over nothing or I got something wrong.
I would say my substrate was on the dry side when I put it in, I had to hand squeeze it as got the pasteurisation / bucket tek wrong and I think I over squeezed, only drops would come at full strength squeeze, no stream, so don't think it is that.
My temps are high 25c to 30c with 100% humidity in the house (live in tropics and is not rainy / hot season)
I haven't misted at all
box is 12L about 1.5L spawn and 1.5L coir+verm 50:50 mix.
From what I've read in general, evaporation of the substrate will induce pinning / growing the mushrooms - although this tek and thread shows it clearly is not required to get good results as the FAE must occur through the lid, I'm assuming it does not harm if indicators are showing it's too humid in there? Which I think my excessive water beans on surface would indicate as the pins turn to mushrooms for the growth stage.
-------------------------------- TLDR Should I fan as I'm worried it's too humid / damp in tub due to water beads on surface during pinning / growth stage?
Cheers

You want water beads the whole time, sounds like you’re good so far.

Yeah that's how my shoeboxes are too. I'm still a newbie but they usually look like a sauna when I first start them and they usually don't need to be misted at all, or maybe once near the end of the first flush. If you don't have a bunch of water pooling in the bottom of your shoebox, you're fine.

Some pics of my 12L box. Box prepared on 25th Feb
DancingTiger Strain Yesterday
Today
Amazon strain doing nothing, but was a noticeably slower colonizer of the jars than the DT and no where near as strong rhzymic(sp?) growth
