Rosin pressing
    #26008254 -

So. I been considering buying a fuckin hair straightener to press some nugs.  I don’t even smoke but I have a stash of bud going to waste and lately I’ve just felt the urge to taste some rosin from the nugs

I found one for like 18 bucks. Is this a dumb idea? Waste of money? I remember trying it before and yields were not very impressive

I did it. Removed the heating plates and also got a small quick clamp. It was cool to do it a few times, works fine, but you won't bother doing it more than a few times. After the 3rd time you'll be like "Fuck it, too much effort I'll just smoke the flower"

I do this with all of my weed. I love it. Yields arent bad, but you have to have a good hair straightener and a vice grip.

Heres the one I use

Then I use the flattened weed chips for edibles.

How long do you squish it for ?

Not long, just as long as it takes for me to crank the vice to be super tight.

Then you can squish the same chip about 3 times.

Well I probably just squished 2.5 grams and got about .5 in rosin

Fuckin stoned. Thinking about thoughts.

Realizing why I quit.  Every time I smoke i realize why I shouldn’t. Always forget the reason though.

Lol.  Anyways. 18.99 for straightener and 2.99 for clamp.  I don’t see myself using this often. Might just squish a whole half oz and get my money back. Idk

I've been considering buying an actual rosin press, there are some solid ones in the 100-200$ range online.

The biggest perks of using a press over a hair straightener is more accurate heating, more pressure, and a wider area. So you can get better quality + better yields and do bigger batches. Seems worth it :strokebeard:

yes the best rosin is made with almost no heat but a crazy amount of pressure

No heat? Seems like low heat is best, but accurate temps are important.

If it didn't take any heat couldn't people just use all sorts of workshop presses? Seems like there would be some cheaper options in that case :strokebeard:

I have mine down to a science. The third setting (out of 45) is the perfect temp to squish with my straightener

Mine has settings 1-25 i was using 10-12. Anything hotter than that just seemed to lessen the yield

You want a 2 inch straightener (at least). I was just going to goodwill. Some last a while, others BREAK after one squish.

As far as heat goes, the lower the heat the better the quality. My first squish (most pure) I try to do as quickly as possible on a lower heat. But on my third squish I put the temp up a little to get the rest.

Fuckin broke my press. Was only 2.99 so I can’t bitch.

I took some dry sift and pressed that shit and it oozed. Flower is way more stingy. Gotta buy a new press.

This.

I dont even smoke man.
I tasted the shit i pressed out the other night and i cant even stand being high

But i love making the stuff. I have an excess of bud leftover from when i smoked and its just getting old. Why not make into something i can get rid of easier?

Im considering buying an actual rosin press now. But the rational voice inside me is saying hold off and think about it.  Shit would be atleast 220 bucks. And i dont even smoke so kinda stupid.

Bought a new press and then today the straightner blew apart lol

So im like $45 in the hole on all this shit and ive pressed out about $25 worth of rosin.

Ah well.
