Feeling depressed due to financial stress
    #26002815 -

I've been watching my checking account dwindle for the past few months because I'm not making enough.

Granted, there are things I could do without that cost money, and I'm working on cutting out unnecessary expenses. Seems like if I want to make it, I have to give up things I enjoy doing on a regular bases.

Smoking cannabis is a big one. I smoke daily and go through about 2 grams of concentrate in about 2-3 days. Vape juice is another at about 60ml a week. Magic the gathering I could easily cut back on. Um, those are three big expenses I could do without.

Oh, and I drive 33 miles one way so gas is another expense I could avoid by finding something closer, and there's places within walking/biking distance.

I want to go back to school and will have to get financial aid. Though I have a hard time seeing it happen given my current situation.

Make your own juice. Alot cheaper that way. Even more so if you go with unflavored. A gallon of pg and vg is less than 20 bucks, or was when I got mine. I think 100ml of 100mg nicotine was around 20 too. Doesn't sound like a whole lot but it will go a long way.

I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today.
Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear.
I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear.

Cutting out these things will not translate to more money unless you are dedicated to actually saving money. I have cut out cannabis, vape on a 60 ml bottle for 2 weeks, no cigarettes, gotten two raises, work overtime, with no real hobbies except for mycology right now.
Financially we have been up and down, but here lately, I've noticed it hasn't gotten better, it's slowly declining. I am completely convinced that a man can make a six figure salary and still be poor. The stress has been real and I definitely feel you. I am currently underpayed, no benefits, no vacations, no holidays, and doing construction in very dangerous/life threatening situations. Yet the bossman gets a brand new, all features included 2019 Dodge Ram? This life sure is wonderful... but it's definitely not easy.

Bro I feel your pain, there are loads of jobs that just don't cut it, investing in a side venture like worm farming or some manual labour work has kept me afloat, labouring is nasty but they do pay a fair wage.

Whenever nugs get blazed I spend less time on me ventures so it's a balance, then Hearthstone drops a new deck and I'm back to square 1

I work for a cannabis company in Colorado. They offered me a permanent position that pays more running a labeling machine but I said I was wanting to go back to school and wanted find something closer to home. I haven't been there six months and already turned down two promotions because I don't know how long I will be with this company and didn't want to take a permanent spot only to leave a few months later.

No written budget, just keeping track of what's in checking. I really need to sit down and write down all my expenses. No car payment or loans of any kind, just rent and bills.

I'm sure they're thinking the same thing. I've shown I'm hard working and reliable which is probablybly why they offered. I don't know, they first offered me to manage the joint rolling station, which we haven't made joints in like 3 months. Then it was the 'flagging' machine, which I turned down because I was getting motivated to go back to school to become a psychedelic psychotherapist. Because of the drive every day and because it's a more permanent position, I didn't want to be disrespectful by taking a job that I felt I wouldn't be interested in and would feel like I was taking it for the company's sake and not my own.

I get what you're saying though, why turn down more money?

It’s hard af but you gotta live under your means. Even if it’s just a touch. It sucks looking at your money and your bills and knowing it doesn’t add up.

You work anyway, and will do so for the next few months at least. Turning down any promotion is just nuts; too bad for the company if they have to promote another hard-working guy once you leave, but until that time, they get to enjoy the fruits of your committed labor and you get paid a bit more. Don't be silly, say yes to the next opportunity.

As to going to school to become a 'psychedelic psychotherapist' - whatever floats your boat, but don't expect too much from the regular education system for this particular line of work. It's kind of alternative.

Yeah you have your answer to your problem right in front of you. Are you going to school for a hard science to be a psychedelic psychotherapist? What research have you done on the role? A job like that is probably longer off than youre thinking

Re: Feeling depressed due to financial stress [Re: Malcolm_Xtasy]

Right.

What got me motivated to go to school was/in a therapy session. Call it integration therapy. My therapist suggested that because people are starting to wake up to plant medicines and drugs, that there will be a need for people with experience in this area to aid others who may not know much about drugs and/or how/why we use them.

Naropa in Boulder, Co. offers degrees in
-Contemplative Art Therapy (my therapist went for bachelor's here)
-Contemplative Psychology
-Creative writting & literature
-Elementary education
-Environmental studies
-interdisciplinary studies
-Music
-Religious studies
-Visual arts
-Yoga studies

So, my plan is to get a bachelor's in contemplative psychology, earn credibility/credentials through doing 'work' in various areas, open up a donation(?) based center where people can come to work with specifically psilocybin mushrooms. My very first 10 year goal.

Now, to get financial aid and to find another job close by.

I gotta stay motivated to get back to school, I don't want to slack off and perhaps kiss an opportunity at a well paying career that I'm actually interested in, goodbye.

-----------------------

Working with cannabis is great, if it were maybe 15 miles closer and payed a little more than $13/hr, I wouldn't be complaining and may not be feeling like this lately.
