Package Searched by USPS?!?
    #25998303 - 05/17/19 04:32 PM (5 years, 3 days ago)

So I got a delivery of spore syringes today and when I opened my LOCKED mailbox this is what I found...

Everything is still inside but the tape was clearly pulled off and the selfsticking portion of the box flap and been torn open.

Cause for concern? This is only my second delivery and I just started this hobby like 3 weeks ago.....

Private maibox. The houses in our area dont have mailboxes in front of the house. They are located in locked boxes down the street.

I'm asking cuz I thought priority mail can't be search without warrent and there was no notice of it being searched inside of the box...

Am I hella paranoid and perhaps the box just opened by itself somehow?! Lmfao

I could be way wrong,  I thought that USPS couldn’t open a package without a warrant unless there are other circumstances involved. UPS and federal express can open any packages they want too.

That's exactly what I thought too. Looked it up to confirm.

Maybe the package wasnt sealed correctly hence the tape on the box and the heat loosened the glue so it could open. This is just hella strange...

in my experience, its best to avoid getting those things delivered to the same place you will be doing research. have a friend receive them for you.

i had a friend getting RC's and precursors delivered to the house they lived and dealt out of. long story short, the house was raided by piggies and my friend avoided it because her dad had the tip off.

they started with personal amounts getting delivered and it just escalated from there. one time she asked me if i could receive a pkg for her and i was reluctant at first but then i quickly agreed after she said she would pay me $400 + 10 hits of lsd + 2 grams of K + 7 grams of mdma.

sadly, that deal never happend because the raid came first. and slowly we lost contact because she stopped dealing (obviously). her boyfriend was cooking mdma and they were getting precursors from china. this was in 2010. also, they were selling nearly every drug they could find to flip so they can support a heroin habit. the boyfriend OD'd and passed a few years ago.

i try not to have things delivered to my own door but sometimes that is your only option.

Well holy shit! I'm not into any of that, lol.

Don't do or have any traffic at house (just moved here 6mo ago from out of state). This was only my second delivery and it was of legal items. Lol

I'm curious if they have to inform that they searched, if so they didn't leave anything telling me so.

2. USPS can open the following classes of mail to inspect them–basically to be sure you have shipped your goods via the right class of mail since these services receive discounted rates:

Periodicals items.
Standard Mail items.
Package Services (including Media Mail, Library Mail and Bound Printed Matter) items.
Standard Post
Parcel SelectĀ®
Incidental First-Class Mail attachments or enclosures mailed under DMM 703.9.
GXG items that contain non-documents.
Priority Mail International items except the Flat Rate envelope and small Flat Rate box.
M-bags.
Items sent via ā€œFree Matter for the Blind or Other Physically Handicapped Personā€ under 39 U.S.C. §§ 3403–06 and IMM 270.
All other Domestic / International mail not specifically stated below.

USPS cannot open these classes, they are ā€œclosed against postal inspectionā€ā€“see # 3 for exceptions to that:

First-Class MailĀ® items.
Priority MailĀ® items.
Priority Mail Expressā„¢ items.
Global Express GuaranteedĀ® (GXGĀ®) items that contain only documents.
Priority Mail Express Internationalā„¢ items.
Priority Mail Internationalā„¢ Flat Rate envelope and small Flat Rate box.
First-Class Package International Service items
First-Class Mail International items.
International Priority Airmailā„¢ (IPAĀ®) items, excluding IPA M-bags.
International Surface Air LiftĀ® (ISALĀ®) items, excluding ISAL M-bags.
Certain Global Directā„¢ (GD) mail.
International transit mail.

3. The US Postal Inspectors are like the police force for USPS. They can open any of the mail services, though if it’s one of the services in the ā€œUSPS cannotā€ list above, they get a search warrant to open letters/packages that they believe violate federal law.

Is that a question we can ask?  I’m wondering if it’s a specific vendor here.

looks like the box was reused? Who putts glue in that fashion in the first place? Then there's all the tape. Wtf kinda vendor you dealing with? So much for discrete. IMO that package be flag for inspection in a heart beat. Theres not even a shipping label in the box provided.

should read the suggestions in the mail sticky top of security forum.
It's been opened might as well use em.

Even if they got a warrant and opened it who cares it's spores

But the machines just fucked it up is probably way more reasonable considering there's no note attached.

I assume you'd be informed of the warrant if it indeed was searched. But if not, how long did the package take to get to you? If it was delayed in any way, then you can start to be suspicious.

He should be concerned because there was a warrant. That means they're interested in him and it's be nice to know why. But like you said, shitty packaging or the machine is probably to blame.

Package only took 3 days.

The more I think about it, with no notice I'm guessing that it was just shitty packaging and like others have said... machines and bad tape er something like that.

Still a shitty odd situation! At least 2 of the 5 syringes are in jars now doing their thing. šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

I had a box exactly like that one delivered some time ago with an empty vacuum sealed package which once contained (I could smell them) an Oz dried shrooms inside it. It had clearly been opened and then a cable tie was put around it to keep it closed. No note.

I got paranoid as fuck but nothing ever came of it. I figure some USPS worker decided to help themselves to it cause I think LE would have been in touch if they'd been informed..

That's definitely odd. I was a package handler for Fedex and no delivery driver would deliver something gaping open like that. But the industry is under a ton of pressure to deliver on time so sometimes the condition doesn't matter to them as long as it gets there.

And I can say that some package handlers are super shady and won't be stopped by a law or rule telling them no. Boxes do get crushed or break open on conveyors, so they know if they open something up and gotta tape it again, no one's really going to get in trouble for that. Seen a guy open every single box going to CVS until he found a bottle of oxy, then just taped them back up.
