Farmers market

So if I wanted to sell edibles and medicinal mushrooms at a local farmers market what would be the best to cultivate. What is most demanded? Thanks

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this, might be best to ask this in the medicinals and gourmet section.

Depends on where you live I guess. I have heard people selling oysters and shiitake for a living as they are quite popular in the western world.

Should also look at what type of permits you'll need for your state.

Honestly, you should know those answers before contemplating trying to grow for a farmers market.

None of us have any idea what your location's demands might be. You could be in hipster usa and you'd be better off selling foraged chanterelles and morels with oysters and shiitake grown. You might be in bumblefuck midwest and have a hard time getting rid of anything that isn't a button mushroom.

In my experience people like standard oyster mushrooms the most. Even king oyster didnt sell as well. I think its because theyre so dense it looks like youre getting less mushrooms. Only die hard mushroom fans like the lionsmane. If youre gonna sell the fancy ones you need to have a little flier with info and cooking instructions. Try and convert the people lol. Ive never tried shiitake.
