I was reading the PF Tek for Simple Minds and it calls for:
140 ml Vermiculite 40 ml brown rice flour
What are these measurements in the US, I don't trust those conversion sites, they are all different.
Also, after boiling the water for steaming the jars, should you just put it on low and let the water simmer or leave it on high a boil for sterilization? Thanks, ShroomNoob03

no to be an ass... but we have this in the faQ's...
"Using 1/4 cup BRF, 1/2 cup vermiculite, and 60ml water"
60ml will be 1/4 to 2/3 of a cup.. 2/3 is used if you want maximum water absorbtion.
peace.

I'll make it simple. 2 parts verm, 1 part water, 1 part brf.
Now wet the verm first and then add the brf. Makes mixing easier and more even.
Check this out.

The tek says:
"For one ? pint jar(~240 ml) you will need: => 140 ml vermiculite => 40 ml brown rice flour => some vermiculite to fill the jar to the top (app. 20 ml) => water
Note: ?pt(pint) = 1 cup = 236ml(mililiter) = 236cc(cubic centimeter) = 1/4 qt(quart) The cups, pints and quarts are in the US liquid measuring system.

I did read the FAQ, and those converstions are not accurate.
A 1/4 cup does not equal 40ml,
and a 1/2 cup does not equal 140ml.
The Tek didn't have any measurements for water.

the usual standard is about 2 parts verm, 1 part BRF, 1 part water, with slight variations. the 7 parts verm, 2 parts BRF, and unqualified amounts of water is probably not such a good source to be reading.
yes, put it on med-low, won't help to keep it boiling on high, you'll just spill water over the edge.
