the real nature of the universe
    #2599200 - 04/24/04 11:56 PM (14 years, 2 hours ago)

This is something I've come to believe, specifically because of two psychadelic experiences I've had.

Matter and all that we see doesn't really exist, but we exist elsewhere. This place cannot be seen, but it can be perceived somewhat, and the way I understand it is like an environment of a network of consciousness, which exists in a series of levels. A person's consciousness lives on one of these levels, and that is essentially what makes you... you.
The consciousness interacts with other signals and produces it's own signals, and these affect the consciousness of others.
Everything else, like your personality, thoughts, perception etc.. etc... are a manifestation of your 'processing' of these signals.

The world and all you believe is just like a VR dream kind of thing... I hate talking about this theory to people, because it so closely resembles the plot of "the matrix" and thus immediately can be discredited as a play on that fiction... but I seriously came to this conclusion myself.

I had a discussion with another individual who has frequent psychadelic adventures, and they had come to a similar sort of conclusion.

He described the universe as a 'stack of paper', and existence happens on one of these sheets (levels) of paper.

Now this is where I kind of speculate and go off on a tangent. There are supernatural beings, or those with altered consciousness who can 'leave' said perceived reality, and take advantage of the 'real wheelwork' of nature, and even travel into other people's consciousness, as well as move to a place in a higher level that encapsulates everything in the sublevel and some unimaginable things become possible.

This seems like an incredible theory, but for some reason it 'feels' right to me. It's not some bollocks someone has told me, it's something I've 'figured out' so to speak.

So I want to know if any of you know what I'm talking about, and if there is any written literature, or similar, which describes from a clearer or more experienced perspective what I'm trying to talk about.

dude, that's a very convoluted complicated view of the universe.

Tell me, what does that take on things bring you? What can you do within that framework of reality?

I have heard of something like that, and I questioned this forum about it once, but no one seemed to know what I was talking about, and I don't know if it's exactly similar to what you are talking about.

There are basically different planes, or levels, of consciousness. Each level is conscious of itself, and the level below it, but is unable to grasp the concept of any level above it.

On the lowest level is nothing. Nothing is conscious of itself, and nothing else.

On the next level above "nothing" exist things that have no life. Brick, cement, chairs, tables, cars, etc. They have consciousness of themselves and "nothing", but no consciousness of anything above themselves.

On the next level above things that have no life are things that have life, but not humans, and then the next level is humans, and the next level is ???.

Humans can only guess at whether God exists, and angels, spirits, what death is like, etc. Those are all things on higher levels, which we cannot understand, just like things on other levels cannot comprehend us.

Well, Mixamatosis, i'll take this one:

I can relate to MOST of what was said. I believe there are many overlapping layers of the Universe and that they are all connected and interact with each other.

Discovering these things on your own help you see past yourself and maybe find it easier to dedicate yourself to higher purpose and a sense of peace.

What is most matter? Its excited energy. All this matter around you vibrates at specific frequency's. Your brain deciphers these frequency's and creates your reality.

Why does that even matter? It leads into more evolved thought patterns. The influence of one person alone is amazing and his thoughts dictate his actions.

From my expirences, philosophers tend to be very peaceful.

Sounds like one of those ideas that came out of the mouth of the bong. I don't say such a thing to mock or discredit you. In fact, I've written extensively about similar ideas for exactly that reason. It's just that these views, when encountered as a result of the use of mind altering drugs, almost always take shape as incomplete and difficult to understand. It can't be ignored that many different people in many different parts of the world decide upon similar world views upon imbibing similar substances. There's no doubt in my mind that there are aspects of reality that remain unseen to the ordinary conciousness. We can't rely upon psychedelic drugs to escort us into some sort of divine insight, however. We must prepare ourselves for such an encounter through effort and devotion.

Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free.
But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.
