2nd pic you can BARELY see the bruising but its there...i only know how dry is really because i already spawned two mini monos this week.

1st pic is to show how far along they are.

Edit : before anyone says anything, yes theres vermiculite in there. Did G2G with a brf cake and had an amazingly short colonization time

The pics show healthy to me the bruising is from the myc getting dry from the air in the jar you should have shook better .. I would give them all a shake now and let them recover 48 hours should tell you how clean they are

I shook once when i did the p2g transfer and havent since...

Really? i was under the impression that shaking at this point would be counter productive. Especially considering the myc needs water does it not?

You usually always do 2 shakes when doing a transfer the first intial then about 30% shaking now would help speed the growth up and tell you how healthy the myc is .. if it takes more then 24 hours to see growth or 48 to be recovered there is something in there other then heathy spawn

You can let them finish on their own but a shake isnt going to hurt them unless they are unhealthy

My original point tho is isnt the health of the myc kinda dependent on the presence of water? like what if this doesnt recover because its dry now thats why i was thinking of birthing so i could dunk the grains.

Boogieman is correct you.gotta shake the shit out of those and thenet them finish. You should shake your grain jars at least twice during colonization

is that regardless of the method used to inoculate?

If you don't want to wait you could just pick off the uncolonised bits and spawn to coir. I've done that with a couple stalled/bacterial jars and they're fruiting right now

Dry grain is better than wet grain 7 days a week. I left some bacterial grain on a plate over night last week, had a little bit of mycellium on part of it, the grain dried out and mycelium colonized the grain overnight. I put it in a shot glass with some extra CCVG and the veils are about to break lol.

too late i shook, but good to know you can do this cuz the myc looked really healthy except for the uncolonized area.

If a grain jar stalls thro it away. I have never seen a grain jar that's too dry but I guess its possible

Shaking won't hurt healthy mycelium. There are people on here that shake all the way thru colonization. Also there are people on here that always shake at 100% to test their jars to make sure they recover good before using.

Because it was wet and sweating in the jar, the mycelium absolutely refused to colonize it, confirmed with a higher temperature than surrounding grains by infrared thermometer before spawning.

I sometimes go to extremes and I double check myself often. I don't suggest ever "smelling" exposed grains for contaminants, molds, bacterias, yeasts and rusts as tbey can be very harmful if inhaled. There are far better methods for diagnosis. The simplest for an aspiring mycologist would be to buy a microscope, you know "for microscopy purposes". If you expect to ever go further than the "neighborhood homegrown shroom dude" it is a necessity. You really should have bought o e before ordering spores, thats what tney are for after all.

bro im using 4 year old rye seeds lol wasnt sure how hard they would be to rehydrate

but i understand the usefull ness in shaking to check health
