Mycelium Transfer
    #2598775 - 04/24/04 09:00 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Hello all,
I've been reading these boards for a while now. Since I live in GA and spores are hard to obtain here, my brother is mailing me a chunk of colonized substrate. Probably not more than 10 grams.
I'd like to take this and mix it up in a sterile tray (or pint jars if i must) of the old brown rice/ verm. mix... but i've noticed a high concentration of complaints regarding contamination risks in this procedure.
Though not well documented, I've seen a few mentions of a diluted (perhaps 1%... or less) H202 solution being the medium for transferring the mycelial growth. That is to say the chunk of substrate would be mixed into a 1% H202 solution, then squirted into sterile jars via a wide-mouth serviette, like a meat syringe.
Any advice would be appreciated. I am a competent and polite person and have always offered my best advice to new-comers in the world of marijuana cultivation... here however, I must genuflect to those that know! lil' help bros?
-FYM

You could try this procedure,
http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/7943
and adding 3 ml of the 3% peroxide solution to 100 ml of water, and putting your mycelium in the water instead of making colonized rye yourself.

ha, okay... i was being a bit modest - i've read through all of those techniques, faq's and what-have-you several times. i've even grown mushrooms before, i just don't consider myself much of a person of working knowledge when it comes to mycology. i could grow pot inside a paper towel roll if i had to, yet I realize when it comes to mushrooms, i'd prefer to defer to the experts in that field.
and yes i have all the supplies...i've just never done G2G or anything, so I want to be ready when the mycelium arrives in a few days.
thanks for your reply,
-FYM

A few days ago, AFOAF did the following:
A 1 x 1 cm block of colonized substrate was removed from a fully colonized PF-style cake. Substrate was placed in strilized 1/2 pint jar containing 1/4 pint of distilled water. Shake shake shake.

Sterile syringes were inserted through a hole in the lid and 12 ml of solution drawn into each syringe. Within one hour, AFOAF injected the solution into 12 1/2 cakes. Several days later, he is pleased to see strong mycellial growth in each and every jar.
