This is Wild Coast 8 hours from 5 days. Should I give it 1 or 2 more days??? Or is this usable?
I’m planning on using this lc to noc up 1 bag prepped with your recipe Asura. Devided in half of course. Along with a fresh plate. I don’t want to mess up too much shit “literally”! Four hours cook, damn! I’ve come this far, 4 hours ain’t shit in comparison. I better do at least 4! I read in a post somewhere that you put tin foil and towels around the bags? Is that something you still do?

This LC needs to grow a lot more. At least double that.
As for bags anything you have read about me and bags is what I was doing at that time. I've been changing my method constantly. I am currently just rolling up bags, filter side OUT, flap down...and packing all available space in the PC with wet towels.

Ok thank you. I thought this 1 was doing pretty good considering it’s twice the size of the other one. I have so much to learn.

I do it a little differently. I just put wet towels in all of the voided areas of the PC. Spacers between the bags. I don't wrap the bags themselves with towels. But when it comes to bags, whatever works for you...keep doing it.

Wait a minute guys enlighten me here, I've been tumbling about trying to figure a proper way to PC my bags with my presto 23qt and this didn't occur me. I feel stupid but, is there perhaps more behind this than just say wrapping them in towels or just filling the voids with them?

I also stuff some more on top then put a plate over it all but I feel like wrapping the the bags is essential to my process at least. Here are some bags I have laying around I PCed a little over a week ago.

I haven’t sealed them yet because they were wrapped so tight I don’t need to till I’m ready to use them.

I left details about bags out of the write up on purpose. I'm always changing it. And like LC, this really isn't the place to learn things for the first time. I mean you can, but I start with a baseline assumption that you know the basics.
This thread has a lot of good info, even if the title is a little misleading.

Substrate section has been rewritten. New pics of horse poop!
Recipe has been slightly modified and hopefully better explained.

It’s just a feeling. I like it. I will try it out. I use the wangy hpoo and so far it has been bone dry. Even just dust in the bag. Do you use dust powder poo? The first attempt I did not use any dust. I might cook up a bag tonight.

I prepared LC according the your recipe Asura and it came out a bit darker than I'm seeing in these pictures. I vented the PC for 10 minutes and cooked at 15-16 psi for 20 minutes. Do I need to vent?
Edit I used my house water, not distilled. I'm not seeing a helluva lot a growth since Monday morning

Wow I do 50% hpoo and 50% straw.
Doing 80%hpoo by weight like you do I must try! I hate cutting up the straw by hand would be nice.
Was going to try using some of the straw from straw pellets as well.
Hope its still airy enough.
Thanks for sharing

Check out the current discussion on LC's.
Mine come out dark, too, sometimes. It doesn't matter.

Asura I've read Blue helixs old posts and he used to incubate in the FC at 78F, you incubate at normal low 70's room temp, he used to say that you must not let temps drop too low with pans. Does that still apply, or did he mean you must not let temps get low if you incubate at higher temps?

Once you lay the trays, put some toothpick-poked saran wrap over it an allow it to colonize at fruiting temperatures for 1 to 4 days. You want it as colonized as it possibly can be without stalling it out. During this phase, before you put the casing on, you want it to look like thick clouds of mycelium over the substrate. The thicker the better. Do NOT store the tray in low temperatures during this time.
