Its a weird concept to think of, to have a relationship with yourself. Perhaps its more of a self-perspective or self-image. I appreciate the thoughtful answer and i can relate with your thinking you have. Thanks for sharing

I think it's just like the relationship you have with anyone else.

You chose to do things that are good and kind (to yourself) or you choose to do things which are not.

Sometimes you fuck up. Sometimes you must make amends. Sometimes you must change how you're treating yourself. We all need love, and one can provide it to oneself.

Indeed.

I know I have said or thought "Im so stupid!" and "Ya know, Im proud of myself". When you self-reflect, it feels very much like a relationship as you criticize or praise your own thoughts or actions. Of course some people are not very introsepctive and think more reactionary/spontanous than self-reflective.

Horrible
I won't even talk to me anymore. Seriously though, I tend to treat other people better than I do myself. I don't hate who I am, but there are things about myself that would be in my best interest to face and make a change.

The sex is on point though.

the mind is always self-reflexive and reflective to itself, in interaction. all emotions are coordinated to higher teaching.

I don't really know. It's an interesting question. I've been struggling with how to answer it.

I guess I just don't really think about things that way. Sometimes I try to motivate myself, other times I think a lot about stuff I regret, or I try to change myself for the better, etc. but I don't think I'd call it a relationship exactly. I just have a hard time thinking about it in those terms because I am myself, so it all feels kindof circular.

If anything, I'm probably pretty hard on myself, always pushing myself to do more and better, and feeling bad when I can't live up to my own desires and expectations. I have a lot of regret, but also a lot of pride about certain things, and lots of happy memories. I'm fairly happy overall. I wish I could accomplish more and work harder, but who doesn't?

I feel like this isn't a very satisfying answer, but it's a weirdly difficult question for me for some reason.

^ This.

Well put.

i can relate to most of that.

except i am aware of a relationship with myself.

years back, i really did love myself; a lot has happened since then and this moment.  i don't think i can say that today.  i think i've begun to accept that, as well.

I've a little something to add to this. Back in October 2015 I first learned to love myself. In the almost four years that have passed, I have seen that love wax and wane - or perhaps, even - come closer and get farther away.

I liken it to the love one might feel for anyone else. It might always be there, but when you see that person acting in ways which are not good, not nice, not wholesome, then the love is covered by a feeling of loathing for their actions. The love is still there, but it gets buried under something else, and is not immediately visible to ones heart.

But when that person is acting in the most respectable and admirable manner, then the love becomes clear to ones heart.

Such as it is, I think, with ourselves. It's definitely been this way with my love for myself.

The thing is though, Love is a choice, not a feeling.

If you Love someone, you choose to Love them.  It's nice when the feelings follow suit, but there's no permanence in that, as I'm sure you know.

If you truly love yourself, you will dedicate your time from now on to realising the Self in the Eastern enlightenment sense before you take on life by the horns, or rather, before you do anything dedicated or serious or long-term about your life, especially if it's in regard to social change or philanthropy.

The ultimate worship of God is to be God, who is your true Self. So that is the ultimate relationship to have with yourself - enlightenment.

It will bring the you that you love so much endless gifts in the present moment of bliss, joy, love, new perceptual dimensions every moment, every glance almost, and it will enable you to intensely stand up for, respect, and love other people not only in your personal life but everywhere you go - everywhere you go... IN THE PRESENT. "Other people" who are really your true Self. It is the ultimate gift to you and everyone you will touch.

Maybe if you don't already understand this you should keep taking psychedelics as often as is reasonable until you do. Until you understand you are reality, and reality alone is real.

Apart from that -

You need to come to believe in your own ideas without a doubt. This means learning how to think clearly and logically. You need to trust yourself, and you need to reinforce your ideas over other people's ideas without being wrong. You need to live a deep emotional life, to music, to beautiful days, to art, to times with friends, to family, psychedelics, etc. You need to come alive, respect yourself deeply (don't ever do shit like methamphetamine for example), challenge yourself daily and stand up for yourself without hesitation. Keep trying and failing not until you win but until you have absolute assurance in your own ability, whatever limits they may reach. It doesn't matter how much you fail, failure can be washed out instantly by the Self, and it doesn't matter if you win, all that matters is that your understanding of and faith in yourself becomes absolute.

Because you have a battle to fight. A battle that will never end - it is the battle that rages in the here and now. You think your life in time is mostly static and a nice Sunday walk, but in the present moment life is utterly overwhelming for all sorts of reasons and in all sorts of ways. Stay there and function from there. Always stay there. Always. Always. Always. It gets easier and easier until you finally realise it's the present that has breathing space and that the past and future are making you claustrophobic, making you feel condensed and short on "time".

If you do anything else with your life except act from the present into your boundless, endless human energies and potentials, you might as well have your brain removed from your skull permanently, maybe in the same way the Egyptians did it to the dead, and just function from your spinal cord, like Einstein said dedicated nationalists and patriots do.

Has anyone noticed that once you begin to be happy with yourself that other people who aren't there yet will perceive it as cockiness and try to tease you for it?

I'm trying to not be butthurt by it and just hope they can achieve more than I have. It might just be a spiritual growing pain since I'm just starting to break through that threshold of not really enjoying things to feeling good for no reason.

Dopamine is neurotoxic and that causes some weird shit in terms of the "realm dynamic". One way that could possibly deal with it is to sort of try to suppress feeling "good" as much. I know it sounds weird but that should help to keep them from bothering you lol.

And do go on about realm dynamic. One of the dudes was acting pretty weird.

Absolutely. It's hard not to be affected by it.

If you are affected by others in a powerful way see to it you are not holding back some unaddressed emotions, or that you have the wrong mindset as regards how you express your inner happiness/self-acceptance. Others' negative actions are hitting straight on these unaddressed emotions, not really on "you".

Or that you are hanging around the wrong crowd.

Others cannot affect you at all if you are not giving out energy that demands something back.

Hey man guess what?

The world is perfect.

No seriously.

I mean no offense but if you are being effected by others in a major way you're not doing something right. There must be conditions on what you put out.

Everything is actually perfect it's just up to us to adjust to it.
