can mold be hallucinogenic?
    #25984360 -

I accidentally ate a Philippine pastry called Hopia, which was made of mung bean but didn't realize it was going bad (i.e. starting to get molds). It was more noticeable the following day, but I knew something was off about the taste the other day. So upon going to sleep, I had some of the trippiest dream ever. Did it have anything to do with the mold? I'd assume a mold is closely related to a fungus?

similar to a fever dream perhaps  neat

You'll have to eat another spoiled Hopia and report back

Mold is fungus.

But you might have had a fever as stated. I had a really high fever where I was hearing metallic banging like a hammer. I saw midgets working on something big and I was telling to shut up. About 15 went by before I realized I was talking to my self.

https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/07/massospora-parasite-drugs-its-hosts/566324/

There's a species of mold that parasitically infects insects and actually intoxicates them for a not well researched evolutionary purpose.

It also produces cathinone, a stimulant closely related to amphetamine and ephedrine.
It's considered a substituted amphetamine.

The theory is infected cicadas behave strangely. Despite their horrific injuries, males become hyperactive and hypersexual. They frenetically try to mate with anything they can find, including with other males. They’ll even mimic the wing-flicking signals of females to lure males toward them. None of this does them any good—their genitals have either been devoured by the fungus or have fallen off with the rest of their butts. Instead, this behavior only benefits the fungus, allowing its spores to find new hosts.

Read the article and the study. They utilize gas spectrum analysis. There's actual evidence.

What's with the automatic denial?

There's a fungus called Cordyceps which pilots ant corpses to high blades of grass and then produces spore pods and releases it's spores that way. It literally uses ants as necro puppets to reproduce.

Your ignorance is quite confident.

Moldy Stilton cheese gave me some crazy lucid dreams. It was blue Stilton. Which is a mold.
But it was way more stronger than any other cheese I’ve tried dreaming o

The blue in blue cheeses is penicillium.

I seem to remember reading about "cheese dreams" before, cheese being a supposed oneirogen. Which is interesting me now because I once had a lucid dream character who was "Mr cheese" and had a head made of cheese/the moon. The moon being a perfect symbol for the unconcious

Its weird and therefore automatically wrong. My bias knows everything there is to know without corroborating one way or the other.

Mold was the primary way for medieval peasants to trip balls. Deliberately use grain with ergot infection and have the bread hidden under the bar for when the special crowd shows up lol

It will also make your toes fall off, so not advised

EDIT: After doing a bit of research it turns out Ergot is actually LSD, though obviously LSD is the sort of purified and stabalised form of the active ingredients, with the stuff that makes your toes fall off not included with it

Not quite, KP simply jumped the gun and assumed your "Not likely" was directed at his cicada thing. When in reality, it was directed at OP.

Look up "The Ambrosia Society". Those guys grow specific type of mold on juice, then filter it out and drink the juice. And supposedly they trip off of it.

Be more careful about who your post says [Re:] toward. I fixed the rating but you need to use more clear context if you want people to understand you
